Depends on my mood and whether im in a rush. The self service ones do seem faster. But there are some lovely girls at my local Tescos so its a tough one.

Who cares about the girls at Tesco. Let's talk about Depeche Mode. They do have a new album coming out, you know.

Wait... who cares about DM? Let's talk about the Modern Talking. They're from Germany and they don't have a new album.

Fantastic thread

I prefer the Checkout girls, but hey if you have shares in Tesco, they will ROCKET. If a company can cut it's manning cost's that's more on the bottom line.

I go both ways at the tills....

oh, that probably wasn't the best way to state that!!!

Anywho...if I've got just a few items, I'll use the self-serve registers...If I am doing a full week's worth of shopping, I let the old hags check me out...

Thanks for the support, Mike!.This should be monster:rofl:

For those not familiar with the self service tills , you scan your items and then pass them along the belt .Then when you`ve done all you press 'finish and pay' ,scan your credit card through (or you can insert cash and recieve change). Then pack your stuff and go.

The problem i find with them is you kind of have to wait for the previous person to finish packing their stuff before you pass your stuff along the belt.Otherwise your stuff could get picked up by that person if they felt so inclined .There is an assistant supervising two tills at a time. But if she is occupied helping someone on the other till she won`t spot someone nabbing your stuff.

And i guess you could try and buy alcohol after midnight or whenever because there will be no till girl to refuse you purchase?.But then again Tescos probably cordon off the alcohol aisles after 11pm?

well it all depends where i am,

if i'm up in the back of beyond at work its gotta be a till girl, self service hasn't made it this far north yet.

When i go home to the parents, well that is a different kettle of fish. Depending on the time of day and all, if its after 10pm its self service all the way. If its before 10pm any sexy till girl will do

We have those self service things over here. But you still have to go to a cashier to pay your stuff. Different checkouts though, with less people in it.

At Lidl, after you paid for your things, you have to put the things back to the trolley, and pack them in bags in another location. That is so sick!

I hate Lidl!!!!

so thats common company practice then.

the first time i shopped there was the last! I was so pissed off with it by the end, paying for your carrier bags, don't accept visa cards, have to re pack your trolley to unpack again into bags utter bollocks that place

Same here. Never again.

They might have cheap german food, but most of their stuff isn't food. It's DVD-player etc.....

Because it would be a completely pointless thread, probably.

Our local Tesco closes at 10pm and if you hand around a bit at about that time you can usully catch where the assistants are going for last orders.

Can't say the same for those bloody machines...

Hmm, the computers just kinda lay there, don't they? And the conversations take a downturn once you've rammed your card in her :evil4:

Let me just say that this supermarket-themed Sunday is disturbing to me

My grocery lacks self check outs. But if I go to Wal-Mart I always use the self checkers.

then what's the purpose of self-service?

if i'm in wal-mart i use self-service. the only problem is if you're purchasing an R-rated DVD you have to wait for a checkout person to come over and check your ID or look at you and realize you're over 17. this is one of many reasons i don't buy DVDs or CDs at wal-mart. one of many.

Would it be pointless if you found out that David Gahan, Alan Wilder, Martin Gore, and Fletch all shopped at Tesco's?

What if one of the above shopped at your local Tesco's?
