As I'm sitting here in my building's office center, checking my email, the radio is playing Christmas songs NON-FRICKING STOP.
Christmas season, by civilized agreement, NEVER began until after Thanksgiving {and I have NO idea how you Brits sorted that one out). Now it's two full weeks before thanksgiving, and here they are playing Christmas songs
I think I'm going to :barf: What next? Christmas carols in July? Why not just have Christmas year-round so our pathetic economic structure doesn't collapse? ![]()
Christmas... :wtf:

I love how people who only have to be in a store playing Christmas music for a few hours seem to find it "charming" :D
While those of us stuck in the same store for endless shifts...![]()
There's no way to innoculate yourself, either. It's too sugary-sweet and annoying, and after a while you start to count the hours until you hear "White Christmas" again (whether it's sung by Bing Crosby, Celine Dion, Tony Bennett, the Buena Vista Social Club, Anthrax featuring Public Enemy, or the Ramones) ![]()
So I feel your pain, man. I really do ![]()
Since Bush killed the economy retailers are pimping Christmas earlier this year in an attempt to save their asses. Christmas music distracts us from the 100s of US service personel dying evey day in Bush's War Against Islam.
May I make a suggestion?? John Water's Christmas Album.

Yep and the department store that I work at has been selling Christmas decorations since the beginning of September. I am, quite frankly, sick to death of the whole damn thing already.
Christmas is the day Christ comes out of the cave to determine if he can see his shadow. If Christ sees his shadow then thousands of Christians invade the Holy Lands and try to take it away from the Zionists and Islamofascists. If Christ does not see his shadow he goes back to bed and every one enjoys a 6 week piss up. This happens the first Saturday of february with the traditional "Buy the kiddies a shitload of toys so they will leave us alone" morning. The the drinking begins unless, of course, you find yourself on the way to the Middle east to spread Christ message of love via M-16.
Drove by a house tonight with the decorations and lights up already!
It's the middle of fooking November. ![]()

just been into town this afternoon and the christmas lights are up and on as is the christmas tree in the square, i went to Dundee in september and wandered in to Tesco's(naturally)and they were selling christmas cake and decorations then....bloody madness
Christmas should defo not start at least till I've had my birthday. unfortunately some shops start decorating a month before i've had it.
it is 3 days after the supposed local release on item or collection, or whatever they're going to call it, also 3 days after my big tax bill is due.
Christmas was an event concocted by Sears and Roebuck in 1910 to promote their new "indoor toilet", which was sweeping the market and driving the old-time "outdoot toilets" of rivals Westinghouse out of business.
In early 1911, President Taft declared that the previous year's indoor toilet sales were so impressive, that the annual promotion should be continued "for the good of the nation". And so on December 25, 1911, the second annual "Shit In Your House Day" was celebrated all over America.
Put simply, the slogan "Shit In Your House" did not catch fire with a puritanical American public, and Carrie A. Nation led raids on houses where indoor toilets had been installed, decrying them as "shitholes fucking up the goddam sanctity of the motherfucking American way". (Nation was a notorious "potty mouth" due to her abstainance from alcohol). Put to a vote in 1912 (along with the election of Woodrow "Two Outhouses for Every Indoor Toilet" Wilson), the new slogan "Shitter Day" became the official designation of the day.
In the era after WWI, a new "Red Scare" swept the nation and Shitter Day was no exception. Renamed "Hoover Day" after the courageous head of the FBI (who occasionally went undercover as a female to pursue criminals and suspected Communists), the holiday was reimagined as not only a day to purchase indoor toilets, but also other toiletry items such as soap, brushes, and stain removers.
In the Great Depression, indoor toilets were hard to come by, and most folks who had one hid that fact from the roving bands of wanderers who went from town to town, seeking jobs and a comfortable throne to sit upon while searching through the local want ads. And "Hoover Day" carried with it associations with the new President, who had not one but three indoor toilets (showing his disconnect with the regular American people). After much brainstorming, the holiday was recast as a time for gift-giving not only of bathroom essentials, but also toys and other knick-knacks that served to distract the populace from the growing threat of fascism in Europe. That would have been, had the holiday not been renamed "Kristallnacht", in a misguided attempt to cash in on the craze of looting Jewish businesses in Nazi Germany. Widespread looting in the holiday season of 1937 did not discriminate, and so the holiday had to be renamed yet again.
An enterprising young illustrator, Walt Disney, designed a new mascot for the holiday, to be renamed "Christ-mas" after an obscure Jewish carpenter of dubious ability. The mascot was a short, hairy mouse-like creature with a high-pitched voice who sang the praises of indoor toilets and the new technique of "flushing" them. Prior to this, indoor toilets had served merely as recepticles for filth that were rarely cleaned. In a move to get away from the bowel-lined history of the holiday, however, Disney changed his mind and created a mythical toy-delivery service overseen by Santa Marx, who gave primarily to the children of workers in the lower classes. "Santa Marx" was brought before Joe McCarthy's Communist-hunting committee in the 1950's, however, and Disney was forced to Germanize the "Santa" figure in order to repair relations with the former enemy (a Japanese alternative, "Santa Tojo" was employed for a year but soon fell in favor to a more popular cultural spokesman, Godzilla Claus).
Thus was born "Santa Claus", and the modern concept of "Christmas" as a holiday to give your family and friends something to shit on :p
