The time has come for me to buy a diamond for the little lady and I was wondering if I might canvass opinion across the NOOL for a good jewler in London Town. Something class, as she is a classy lass (not H Samuel!). I'd like to get something which is perhaps not mass-produced so a little independent place would be good. (Also in terms of location, places I can also get to are Canterbury and Swindon, Milton Keyenes, Stevenage - the new/old towns of the country!).

Cheers for your help in advance.

Tesco?

First of all never ever confuse an engagement ring with bling bling. Bling bling is a vulgarity.

I was gonna offer the assistance of my GF, but then remembered her tastes in ordinary jewelery are terrifying, if she started thinking about important rings, you;re looking at a mortgage.

Go to Brighton - the Lanes have some lovely little Jewellery shops. Or, try a small antique shop - they sell LOOOVELLLLY jewels!!

Thank you esteemed contributers. Tesco is an option with their "finest" range of course, but I was thinking more of a type of independent / antique type places. And not necessarily of the 'Ring' - already there on that front, god help me ;) - but just a nice piece of jewelry. Accepting that Brighton is probably the place for such shops but that I can't get there, any other recommendations?

Thanks.
