Crunchie (and mint areo) Appreciation thread from un jank!

When I was but newly arrived in your foul and strange country I found comfort in the many many delightful sweets that are only found upon your shores (well and Canada but wtf?)

One of my favorites:

It's perfection. It also costs me 5 dollars a bar back home (in one of those stupid Taste of UK kind of stores) so I don't get it that much.

Don't ask me why... it was a shock! usually we never have anything exclusive over here.

There's a lot of stuff up there that isn't available in the US. I remember when I was living in Ontario, I went to get a smartie milkshake at mcdonalds, thinking they were American Smarties.

American candy bars usually aren't coffee flavored, unfortunately, although a convenience store near me in Boston sells coffee-flavored wafers. As far as mint stuff goes, there used to be a mint cookie crunch Hershey bar around a decade ago, but I think it has since disappeared, much like clear Coke and Pepsi Kona.

When I was in the states, I was DYING to try these American icons. Hershey bars tasted like they were squeezed from a dog. And as for twinkies, I had to ask a girl in the band who was raised in kansas if I was eating a real one or a foam model. Most of the other sort of candy stuff was OK tho.

Mint aero's are the true food of the gods tho aren't they.

i used to love crunchies till i got hooked on double deckers, and i prefer a caramel aero to a mint one i'm afraid, although an Aero is a poor mans version of the dairy milk bubbly really

Hershey bars have a very bland chocolate taste, but Twix bars are far better. As far as Twinkies, they are just generic snack cakes. If you want a good creme-filled snack cake, try a creme-filled Tasty Kake Krimpet. The butterscotch Krimpets are good, too, but they're not creme-filled. However, Tasty Kakes only seem to be sold in Philadelphia and south Jersey, so up in Boston, the only snack cakes are the inferior ones, like Twinkies.

love the stuff crunchies and areos. then again just about anything chocolate is yummy. yes we do have them here.

I do prefer the caramel version of Aero though ;)
