I saw a vid of someone stood near the inlet of a fighter plane and got sucked in. I've always wondered if it was a fake.
Perhaps we could get Bono to experiment?

It wasn't, it was a crew chief on an A6 if memory serves and he simply didn't duck low enough, and it got him by the bonce and in he went. The best thing... He was FINE!!!!!11
His helmet was ripped off as he was in the moth of the intake, it flew in ahead of him and shattered the compressor blades, so by the time HE got there the engine was fucked, not sucking much and slowing rapidly.

I have a vid somewhere of an F14(if mem serves) doing a Mach-1+ pass on a US Carrier, plane comes in, goes past, fucking splits the air in two with a sonic boom, then just randomly explodes. Buggers got out of it and all !!

I heard it said that years ago (around the time of the trent fuck up) Rolls Royce were destroying some engines on the test rig, and the man who was charged with throwing the defrosted chickens into the engines got a bit absent minded & ended up as minced meat himself.
Ha i thought this was a thread about what would win in a race between a car and a jet engine! I was going to be smart because although a car can't beat a jet, it can beat an engine.

I seem to be follwing you (and Kershaw and BRF mostly as well) round these threads laughin me nuts off.
FWIW, I have a video of an F15 being taken to the cleaners by a fooking champcar (heavy american f1 style car, probably faster top speed, but inferior in all other ways).
The plane goes off the end of the runway while the car's already there doing doughnuts.
Not that impressive really, direct coupling is gonna win every time.
Right that's enough bollocks for one day. I've got a date... with a HUGE glass of red wine.
