I'm thinking of setting up a fan club to cater for people who like The Cure, Depeche Mode, U2 and ColdPlay as well as New Order. The question is, waht do you think the membership charge should be?

I like the Cure and Depeche Mode, but U2 and Cold play? U2 is mediocre but Coldplay is just dull.
Because of these bands NewOrder is not as popular as it could be, that's why I hate them.
And everytime I see Bono in NOStory I want to struggle him (especially during Transmission).

All of these bands have done some great songs... this debate reminds me of being a teenager... 'Oh how can you like such and such, you're not a real such and such fan if you like such and such'.
It's healthy to have broad musical tastes!
I bought my mum the new coldplay Cd for her birthday last week and thought i'd give it a spin to see waht its like.
It's not as bad as i thought it'd be, hasn't converted me into are fan or owt, but i don't hate them as much as i used too, only chris 'i wanna be Bono' martin now.
Like about 2 of the Cure songs, a few of Depeche Mode, 4 U2 songs. But i really really really really hate Coldplay (erm, except for Trouble - that was OK, and to be fair i didn't realise how boring they were then).
You're just asking for ridicule.
And really take Coldplay out of there.
But I do like all of those bands otherwise.

I rate the CURE alongside THE PET SHOP BOYS.Great groups. I also liked YELLOW and Enjoy the SILENCE.

You have listed them in the right order.. The Cure & DM are perfect choices, U2 are pretty good live, but I've never really got the Coldplay thing...

Top article Steve- They left OMD out of thier list of Fairlight users though. I saw them live in late '86 during the Pacific Age tour and the live sound was fantastic(mind you, with all the synth kit they had on stage, including a Fairlight Series II and 2 EII's, they had no excuse for it to be shite).

Like all the above,but I think the Cure's gone off the boil a bit judging the performance at last years Manchester Move Festival.
I like all those bands apart from Coldplay - am I the only one who wishes that Chris Martin and co would just split up and leave us all alone?

Indeed. They're about as enjoyable to listen to as elevator music.
