Well, I've been offered a job last year, that would have gave me more money and more stability (working in a bank), I didn't accept it when my current job matched the offer to keep me there, but somehow in the last year, they managed to come back on their word about a few things they promised to me when I decided to stay with them.

But back then, I also said to myself that I would have a brighter future at the company I was working with, because it was growing consistantly and I have confidence in my bosses, etc.

To make a long story short, I feel today I made the wrong choice back then, today I'm again in front of the same dilema and I have to make another choice.. not that I won't like the job, but it's so specialized in one domain (finance) that I fear I will get bored in a few years and will want to change once again...

Ah.. if only I could get paid to do NOOL :p that would solve a lot of things :evil4:

Working in the environmental field I've accepted the fact that I won't make tons of money. That said, I'm sitting in a job that offered me more money and job security than the last place and couldn't be happier with my work. So, I geuss it's a little bit of both.

I have very rarely worked in the fields in which I have qualifications and training, instead I seem to have ended up in different jobs, and acquired new skills and experience along the way. I haven't done any teaching or lecturing for over ten years, and instead have learned a whole load of IT and project/programme management skills that I can put to a whole bunch of other uses.

It's only now, after so many years in this field of work, that the money is commensurate with what I could get elsewhere. CV looks good though!

I go for the actual work. After I graduated, I could've gone freelance as a Web designer but I'm determined not to do the whole career thing. Who wants to be working all hours, never getting to see your family, friends or partner and burning out (or possibly even dying if you push yourself hard enough) at 40? Not me, that's for sure! I'm happy in my office job, thanks! :)
