Or is it "geeks" ;) Sorry. Anywho I throw my ignorance at your collective mercies. Time has come for me to get a new laptop and I've come across the one below and would be grateful if you could cast a critical eye over it.

Despite my propensity to take the piss, I am perfectly aware of my computer incompetence so feel free to reciprocate. But seriously thanks.

p.s. anyone who'd like to think of themselves as knowing anything about computers then please feel free to comment.

Cheers all

Haha - I work with IBM!

Snap this R50e up - it's a good little machine. Fabulous price as well!

I'd be looking to add extra RAM to it - maybe min 512MB.

May even look at getting one of these myself at this price :thumb:

themost important today is wireless. btw. does wireless mean the same as bluetooth or wi-fi.

I agree with what has already been posted. Nice find.

Bluetooth and Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity) are both wireless networking standards. The main difference is Bluetooth is primarily used to replace cables between your printer and notebook and stuff, while Wi-Fi is largely used for wireless, high-speed access to the Internet and a local area network.

btw, I always preferred geek to nerd.

"Geek" it is - but thanks guys. Have picked one up. 399 at Staples and no need to wait on delivery which categorically 'will' arrive when I'm out. Cheers

It's "IT Professional"

You've got one of those Thinkpads from Staples for £399? Fook me! I'm on the way there right now!

Yep - picked it up for 399. Good deal as the ones on DABS ran out from the time I started looking on tuesday evevning to yesterday at about 3pm - Dabs sold 67 of those at 429 and it is now discontinued. Still a few at staples so get in. By all accounts it is a top machine for 500 so anything under that has got to be pretty good. Even better that work can pay for half ;) Cheers
