NYC Transit Strike

well the city is crippled, i was told i could stay home from work, at least for the first few days. we have NO busses or trains running in the city or any of the Five Boroughs. i hope nobody is visiting here this week because unless you walk you are screwed. im not sure the union and the transit authority are talking again either, they stopped last night and the strike went into effect at 3AM

What are they striking over? I seem to recall they walked out once before over safety issues (extremely courageous if true)

they originally were fighting over just money, but now its money and the pension. still no talks as of 11PM last night, not looking good, as of now they told me to stay home with pay, but i think they will make me come in if it goes past the weekend and thats gonna be hard

Been to NYC twice, Frank. I'm glad Mike Bloomberg said that the strike is a disgrace. Walking in the cold is a great pain in the neck.

If NJ transit is still running to NYC, you can spend a day in Newark or Trenton.

Or he could take NJ transit and SEPTA to hang in Philly, where SEPTA is no longer on strike.

Funny listening to Bloomberg walk to work today. Glad I do not have to rely on mass transit.

Bloomberg says he's going to fine the union a million simoleons for every day the strike continues.

they are supposed to meet in a little while, the Union is being fined 1 million a day and they ay they will be banckrupt by.. Tomorrow! they are also trying to get a judge to fine the workers 25,000 Dollars a day. i met a transit worker this morning at the bakery, i asked him how it was working out and he said he wished he was working. they have to settle soon

NPR interviewed him yesterday as he walked across the Brooklyn Bridge.
