Ah 69, Altamont

'Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones looks on in disbelief as members of the Hell's Angels motorcycle club, whom the band hired as the security force for the Altamont festival, maul a fan who is then dragged onstage. At one point, Jagger stopped the music and pleaded, "All I can do is ask you, beg you to keep it together." The Angels proved to be an unstable form of security at the one-day free rock festival, held in Livermore, Calif., U.S., on Dec. 6, 1969. Violence was pronounced during the Stones's headline performance, during which a member of the Angels stabbed a fan to death. The band completed their set, despite guitarist Keith Richards's threat: "We're splitting, man, if those cats don't stop beating everybody up in sight." '

Yes I'm finishing my Chablis
Bottle or glass?
I like their "Honky Tonk/Ruby Tuesday" era and earlier stuff. Can't really get into latter day releases at all. My mom's an enormous fan, so I've gotten to listen to them almost too much over the years.

My Mum had a massive 50th birtday bash last year. It was a 70's theme. can't begin to tell you what it was like to see my Mum and co, especially my dead straight Aunt, rocking to the Rolling Stones. Priceless. I know what they used to get up to!
I won best dressed, most realistic, 70's dude- was well chuffed.:D

Looking Through the Past darkly and Hot Rocks all you really need. I do however fancy Emotional Rescue, prolly their last good studio lp although the new one got good reviews.

Well done, Bonz! I still get tickled when mom starts prancing around the living room with dad to the old tunes. I'm going to look mighty funny myself when I'm their age with all my 'Order blaring around the place.
Oh that we may both grow old gracefully and keep our own dancing hips! ![]()

Beggars' Banquet, Exile on Main St., Sticky Fingers and Some Girls are ace. I saw them live 3 times and I bought tickets for their next Brussels gig. ![]()

He'll just have to learn to shake it like mom. ![]()
Actually, these days when I'm out with mom and she starts swaying to some song, I'll join in if but for the laugh it gives everyone else. :)
Wouldn't pay to see 'em live, but they've got a few tunes and albums I don't mind hearing, such as Out Of Time, Dead Flowers, and Let It Bleed. Don't spend any of my money on their product cause they don't need any more of that than they've already got.

Thanks Melly. I'll be naming and shaming you as my NOOL dancing partner,to my son in the morning![]()
He does dance with me, now, and sings and LOVES NO. Have a sneaky suspicion that they may change as he gets older (the dancing with Mum bit).

Immortalized once again! Well, if I have to have a claim to fame, it might as well be this. :D
I think I'll be shocked if my kids don't get into NO.. they'll get their dad's obsession for They Might Be Giants, for sure - this of course is dependent on whenever we decide to tie the knot, do the deed, and squeeze a few out. :P
I can vouch for my new cat being into the band. I think he already has a fave, really. Calms down at the sound of Turn, just like me. ![]()

Animals or the Rolloing Stones?
Mr Kershaw- you're alive!. Cambo and I were expecting a ransom demand on NOOL last night- from the Everton fans.![]()
interesting question, out of the beatles and the rolling stones who makes the most money. the answer surprisingly is the band that hasn't existed for more than thirty years. not that the stones aren't any good. they are.
They were ace until the end of the 70s. Now nothing more than dried mummies, singing one and the same song for the last couple of albums.

Goat's Head Soup and Black and Blue were ace?
