It's FAR cooler than yours boyo....that is not A software sequencer...that is THE software sequencer...Meet Page R (for Rhythm) the drum machine page on the Fairlight, where all sequencing was done. one day I WILL own one :D

I think so... I certainly can't think of anything else in the late 1970's that could do 3d fourier displays. fairlight wasn't on sale yet but i'd bet someone related to factory would have known about it's impending release.

Trying to compare the two bands and "what they should be doing" is such a critic stretch for some hold on "mattering". You know what they say about those who can, do, and those who can't write music reviews.
How much are FAIRLIGHTs these days? If I had a lottery win,I'd buy one just to piss about with.They were about £10000 when they came out I think.
There's a very interesting Trevor Horn interview in the March 2005 issue of Sound On Sound. Horn says buying a Fairlight for £18,000 freaked his wife out. That was around 1982.
That's basically an editting station that one...much more modern and does much less. Although apprently some of their modern ediiting systems have music capability sneaking back in.
i believe at one point a full fairlight CMI system was in the region of £60,000!!!!!!
I can't wait until PSB's new album next year! I love New Order, but I'm also a huge fan of Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode and Electronic.
