I am going to be on TV again

Ok nothing special, it is a five minute interview on local TV. I didn't make any profound political statements.

Today I was helping a friend fire proof his house. Yesterday two houses in his immediate neigbourhood burned down. All those place back onto bushland that hasn't been cared for in years and is a big fire risk.

Local news came by and for some reason interviewed me, asking why we were doing it, and whose responsibility it should be to look after that area.

Shane if you watch WIN at 6pm tonight you should see me.

i made it on the news but i was cut down to one sentence, and they didn't even put in my name.

canberra is the sort of place that if you are reasonably active, you should be able to get your mug on the telly every so often. i have never been interviewed before though.

lived in Joondalup for 6 years. just got home sick in the end.

i know Perth is full of Poms, but sometimes especially jan & Feb it was just too hot. stifling. those bastard flies got on me nerves. there was no pubs to walk to (just taverns). no one walks in the street. its all car. it was too windy. too sandy (in Joondalup). the suburbs were based around the shopping centres with the Big Dubs and the K marts & hungry jacks. just got bored and fed up without my little pleasures like music and football. not that i minded aussie rules. its a good game.

strangely enough, my family are there right now visiting rellies. not me though. i'd rather suffer in the snow.

sorry i meant depthcharge. i know how you felt. smetimes, actually quite often i feel like a fish out of water here too. we are currently having disgustingly high temps here, with worse to come. wa is relly very isolatd from the rest of oz, and the rest of the world. heck enzed is closer than wa. i don't know if i could ever live in germany again though, way too regulated. i may have to try england, if ever i move again, or perhaps the states.

our kids in Perth at the mo. he went the WACA for the first test. said he got sunburnt to fuck sittin on the hill all day.

sometimes it was unbearably hot. i'd come home from work. we had no pool coz there was all limestone under the garden. so i'd come home, get the shorts on and take about 3 cool showers before bed. but most times just head for the beach, an outdoor pool or a shopping centre to cool off.

Perth has got great beaches though, i must admit. the sand is white compared to the browny sand on the east coast.

shit...wish i was there now actually, what with the SCG test comin up.

but those fuckin bluebottle flies were the worst. the huge buzzy ones that always manged to find a way thru the flyscreen. and we had redbacks in the shed. big lizards in the garden, and dugite snakes in the sand. mmmmmmm!!!

yep. Swanbourne is the bolloko one. just a tad south of Scarborough. errr...not that i've been of course. its right next door to Cottesloe Beach. sort of tricky to reach, so ask someone. haha. don't like Scarborough meself. full of Surfies doin battle for the waves. i prefer the family beaches with the smaller waves for the boogieboard.

never knew it was a faggot beach. mind you, if its a nudie beach, i suppose there's bound to be a poo pushers roaming the sand

our beaches are only about an hour and a half drive fom here. i don't really know why i don't go there more often, when people in sydney drive three hours or more to get to theirs.

it has finally cooled off enough here. so that i can turn the aircon off. that is one good thing about canberra,it cools down at night, although this normally happens abut an hour erlier. it is about 11 pm here now.

its just gone Noon here now. and its pissin down outside. and its strangely dark.

well i've just finished the star wars trilogy again, and it may just be time to go to bed.
