Are "Entertainment Tonight" and "The Insider" trash?

I think both shows are. I don't know why they are on the air every night after I eat dinner. I couldn't stand the likes of Mary Hart and Pat O'Brien. On top of that, the same segments that show up on ET come up again on the latter show. What's up with that?

What I hate about these shows the most (and believe me, there's a lot to hate) are how they try and get "celebrity reactions" to world events like 9/11 and the like. I guess there's someone out there who has to know what Eddie Murphy thinks about the possible killing of al Qaeda's number two man, but I ain't him :nonono:

Also, their "sources" are the publicists who make their money coming up with crap. Not exactly Woodward and Bernstein there :deal:

Speaking of which, I added "All the President's Men" as one of the books I want to read. Yeah, I get the allusion.

Good book, that. Read it about the time Dubya was winning yet another term in office. Oops, I mean stealing another term :evil4:

As far as "entertainment" shows go, ET is the worst. Especially when someone famous dies. I remember when there was the double-whammy of John Ritter and Johnny Cash passing away (which the Onion hilariously commented on..."God Grants John Ritter's Wish to Meet Johnny Cash" ), ET spent twenty minutes talking to people who knew Ritter and obviously didn't want some "reporter" thrusting a mic in their face so soon after their friend's death. Then they did ten seconds on Cash.

It's all just trash

in a way shows like that actually sadden and anger me. think of the human potential wasted in their production, the minds numbed and essentially jammed by a billion "hot gossip facts". Elvis had a point when he started popping TV's for sport.

It's People magazine, only televised. It's not real journalism.

Pat O'brien???? I thought they canned him after his drunken telephone escapades. Funny stuff. What a fucking idiot.

Pat O'Brien looks like Geraldo Rivera's long-lost white brother :evil4:
