I have two horrors.

When i was about 8 my hair was so long i could almost sit on it. My mum let me go to the hairdressers alone. I had it all chopped off short, leaving a really long rats tail at the back. My mum went beserk!

I also had one of those 'football perms'. My fringe and sides were cut short and my hair permed at the back - gorgeous!

And no, i'm not showing any photo's!

2 at the top, 1 at the sides, and a little fringe that I used to spike up with gel.:scream:

Being a teenager in the 80's I had both a flat-top and a rat tail. Possibly at the same time. Do you remember those huge combs with the spirit levels in to aid your hairdresser in the quest for the flattest flat-top? Those were the days...

nummer eins all over in about 1990.

never again.

my hairs fine and blondy. i looked scalped. wore a baseball cap for 3 months until it grew a bit. the only time i've ever worn a baseball cap.

now its the usual 4 back and sides, bit longer on top.

call it what you will, but my dear Jemma, that's a mullet yer talkin about :D

Still it was nice chattin to you while it lasted. have a nice life.

I did have a shaggy all over perm, and I also had highlights, which was bad, cos my hair goes orange on contact with bleach. My biggest disaster was dying it black, it made me look like a terminally ill adolf hitler.

In the early nineties, I thought for some reason I would look good with spiked hair up top. I was wrong...:nonono:

I have never used any type of hair gel since

Also, one time my stepdad took me to this former Marine's barbershop instead of my usual hair stylist. When I took off my glasses, I had a shaggy but managable mane. When I put my glasses back on after several minutes of razor-intensive cutting, I had a Marine cut. :faint:

I always get a little tense whenever my barber takes out the electric razor now :nervous:

"What was your worst hairstyle?" What do you mean WAS?

Actually the worst is when I took a bottle of "SUN-IN" on holiday with me to Agios Nikolios in Crete. It's supposed to bleach your hair in the sun's rays. First couple of days,my scalp went red-raw....then my hair turned ORANGE! I looked like JIM'LL JINX IT! The last week it went so blond it was nearly white!

When I was 18, I had really long hair...

...and a got it permed:nonono:

When I was 13, after I had grown out my hair, I went to a hairdresser to get it trimmed. She did trim it and she also gave me a side part. Not an off center one but one about 3 inches off center. And she cut it like that too. For a year, I would try to part my hair down the center - like it always was - and it appeared really uneven, with longer hair sticking out on one side. After that fiasco, I always tell the barber, give me a center part, please!

I was quite proud of my mullet. Short on the sides, spiked on top, shoulder length in back, braided on the left side, rat tail down to the middle of my back. It was ace. :D

Those modified mohawks of the mid 80s were shite. Spiking the top got old too. Buzzing the sides and keeping the top short may save money on shampoo but it takes too long to get it to grow "normal" and during that time I looked like shite. Still look like shite but it's not my hair style.

i had hint of mullett a few times in the 80s. also my hair goes a bit affro when too long. there a few embaressing pics of the early 80s.

I had a nearly waist-length spiral perm for much of high school in the early nineties. :dead: Everyone loved it but I couldn't stand it, God knows why I kept it for so long. Just before graduation I cut it to my shoulders and had the perm straightened out, really felt like I had a weight taken off!

Still I did manage to avoid ever having skyscraper bangs!

Mine obviously was when I looked like I could've been a member of the cast of Dazed And Confused, specifically Mitch, the young lead freshman.

The Hoddle and Waddle look is definitely better than the shaggy look from the 70's, but that may not be saying much...

Actually, I don't own it....hand on my heart....:)

I'll reluctantly hold my hands up to sporting the Waddle mullet in the footy casual days of the mid 80's.

in the US and canada we called the '80s mullet 'hockey hair' as many of our great hockey players sported said hairdo during those years.

I'm unable to upload any photos but I had some big crazy black Robert Smith hair in the early 90's. Currently have some variation on that but more Trent Reznor than Fat Bob.

My choice vests were a satin black on black paisley, and a black velvet number with red roses.

In 1987 I stepped onto the school bus with a flat-top so flat that the whole bus hushed. Boys were in awe and girls wanted to pat it. It had nothing to do with Dave Gahan's coiff at the time *gulp*... Soon later I went down the Bernard path.

Luckily no pictures remain, but in 95 I decided to chop my hair off in a bob and dye it platinum. The cut of the hair is what sucked, not the color, surprisingly. The rest of my hair styles have rocked, however. Even the 80's child crinkly foot tall bangs phase.

Had a feathercut in the early seventies , took a photee of Bowie circa Ziggy S to Arnold the barber in Walkden , he looked at said no problem and promptly turned me into Donny fookin Osmond circa Puppy Love .... Me Gran pronounced it cute , me Mam deemed it lovely and me Dad suggested the armed forces despite me relative youth . A compromise was reached with a number one , Gran reckoned it was a bit harsh. Punk was a blessing hairstyle wise. fave haircuts a 'rocky mohawk ' in 81/82, and quiff and d.a. combo mid eighties.

regreted a Perry cut too.

Really? That's a vaguely depressing thought, but hey,if it makes 'em happy...

As for the Diamond Lights sleeve, thank God I have ad-block so I don't have to view that sleeve anymore...:evil4:

since sometime in the mid eighties i more or less had much the same haircut. sometimes a bit shoter, sometimes a bit longer. usually a barney, anything else looks crap. so there are no recent pics of me with a bad haircut.

I had several stages of my hairstyles:

  1. Up to late 80's - long enough for my parents to be summoned to the school
  2. Early 90's - it was a boring Beatle-like one (under obvious influences ;) )
  3. Mid-90s - that's when I experiented alot - from long long hair lower shoulders, up to completely cut-off sides and back, played with color, styles etc.
  4. From late 90's on I have more or less the same type of haircut.
