you're confused old chap....1995 is what you mean. If it was 85, you'd be using an accoustic coupler to dial in to prestel or compuserver or some crap, and tuggin your tadger at the thought of a massive 14.4kbaud direct modem.. And if you were on the internet in 1985, you're that kid from WarGames. :D
My mother has dialup and it's split 56K, which means it's twice as slow as usual. She also put AOL 9.0 on her computer and everything on there is even slower because 9.0 is designed for broadband.
Luckily, at school, I have a CAT UTP cable and the campus is wired with ethernet.
Get a satellite connection or look for a high speed connection. My uncle lives out of town where cable and dsl do not reach and he has some sort of broadband fast crap. Not sure how much he pays but better than dial up.
As far as I know, DSL broadband is still the most reliable and fast way to ride the internet and download. Forget cable and radio. I didn't know there's satellite though, it's like Sky or Directv?
I live out in the boonies, so of course we have dial-up.
And I can't afford to move out anytime soon
Hey, at least I'm doing better than Bin Laden (I doubt he has internet access) :p
