As it turns out, the unseeded Cypriot(!) Marcos Baghdatis has lit up the tournament, eating champions for breakfast and storming into the final.

Rousing stuff and massive support from the Melbourne Greek community (which is huge).

Love to see him knock off Federer in the big one, but it may be asking too much. Still, he's got to get through Kiefer yet.

Hey Cheekyface! What about all those Saffers in the English cricket team?

But you're right, it's a great story in the making.

Bit like Boom Boom at Wimbledon 1985, though I think he's a little older.

YES because Marcos with no sponsors at all is already in the final!!! The president of Cyprus and most of the greeks and cypriots banks already offered a free ticket to his mother to fly from Cyprus and see her son to the final! My best wishes to him and all cypriot people. can't wait until Sunday! come on Marcos:clap:

the greek community in melboure have already adopted him. they are talking about making him an aussie so he won't have to do his military service in cyprus. so he his now aussie Baghdatis.

But hats off to Baghdatis - he wasn't a pushover. Definitely someone to watch in the future
