pink was ok. except for that quiffed up duckie character. aber, Breakfast Club was better.

Ferris Bueller Breakfast Club How I Got Into College (late Eighties romp featuring a young Lara Flynn Boyle, Phil Hartman, and pre-ER Anthony Edwards)

I always still laugh at Kershaw's top two choices, I'll pick those as well, don't remember much about Pump Up The Volume though. So for the last, instead of some sex-addled romp, I'll go for River's Edge, those teens more like the people I know rather than those found in a John Hughes-movie.

God how could I not think of Donnie Darko,a good favourite of mine. Anyone seen the directors cut? Like it but only slightly miffed that "The Killing Moon" relegated to a radio sample in the middle of the film,and replaced by INXS' "Never Tear Us Apart" which is good.

donnie darko is one of my favs too. somehow i don't think of it as typical a teenagey film. to me that more or less means john hughes type films.

ever seen that south park where wendy breaks up with stan, and he asks her friends how to get her back? they tell him to stand outside her window, hold up a stereo, and play a peter gabriel song. so he holds up a boom box and blasts...shock the monkey. priceless.

... and no-one's mentioned The Sure Thing either. What's not to like? Rob Reiner directed it! It's got bad-hair-era John Cusack! It's got pre-what-the-hell-happened-to-her Daphne Zuniga! It's got pre-ER Anthony Edwards! It's got pre-Susan Sarandon Tim Robbins! It's got pre-Desperate Housewives Nicolette Sheridan! It's got Sammy Hagar on the soundtrack! And Huey Lewis! And Bob Segar!

Best of all, it isn't Class, the movie that lacked even the slightest trace thereof.

I'll go with that, Ferris Bueller's Day Off and... License to Drive, but only because it had Heather Graham in it.

I ain't down with those Corey boys, ya hear.

You'd probably have to be in my same generation to remember it, but I always thought that "Better Off Dead" was the best of the John Hughes teen movies.

3. Ginger Snaps (had a friend in high school named Ginger, this one was frightenly close to reality for me)

As far as a Matt Dillon movie, "My Bodyguard," also from the '70s was rather good, except Matt Dillon plays the bully and I think Chris Makepeace is the bodyguard.
