National Dish/local delicacies

I'm currently enjoying one of the things that keep me on the lump of floating moss known as Ireland.

A sausage and bacon soda.....a large bit of soda bread (another one of ours) fried with fried bacon and fried sausage......an entire Ulster fry was available inside one, but really there's a limit to what I can handle in one sitting these days.

Alledgedly soda bread is the only reason we aren't all dead by 15 from heart attacks brought on by all te Ulster fries, soaks up fat and carries it our apparently.

I could no more live without soda bread and potato bread than air and water.

I do not like cheesesteaks.
I do like soft pretzels. I also like scrapple (which tastes kinda like black pudding)

Most of all I like something from Spotnick's neck of the woods.

which incidently is easily made with beef bisto and some bbq sauce. I couldn't find cheese curds at netto so I used some red leicester.

I know in Liverpool they eat 'scouse'

In manchester we eat 'scousers'

don't know how to upload pictures

but i like:-

chop suey rolls. mixed grills liver dinners (minus the liver) salt n pepper ribs

& chips/fried rice halfy half with soya sauce from pani's chippy on Breck Road after the match ~~DEE LISH !! :p :p

alligator is the delicacy around here. i know it's a cliche, but alligator really does taste like chicken.

i've eaten kangaroo, shark and emu. and all were dead yummy.

Saw a lot of Cuy in Peru (fried guinea pig), didnt fancy it though. All the meat was attached to a Guinea Pig shaped structure, they even put legs and a face on it...weird

Ate a bit of Alpaca, lovely looking animal, cross between a llama and a sheep and very very tasty.

i often get frogs legs in the far east restaurant in chinatown, liverpool. dead nice

and also deep fried crab claw. lovely.

too many to mention...

proper chicken or lamb kebabs from Istanbul.

beat the crap out of the rubbish Iranian ones in the gaff at the end of my street.

when i was in thailand i ate these crawfish-type things in spicy sauce that were still alive when i put them in my mouth. they tasted like spicy, stagnant lake water.

You call moose strange? We eat that alot here in Sweden. We hunt them in Oktober every year. Dunno how many are shoot though, but I think it's round 200.000. My granddad was a hunter, so when he was alive, we ate moose 3 times a week. Yummy.

Other than that, I think I'll have to mention swedish meatballs.

It's Burns night in Scotland, and I have marked the occasion with the following traditional scottish foods:

Bacon Roll Coronation Chicken Sandwich Crisps

Later, a traditional Burns Night Chicken Jalfrezi will be consumed.

take plenty of plasters for Burns night.

Mopane worms, deep fried - nice and crunchy with a nice squishy centre, hmm.. Or guinea fowl hung by its neck in the hot sun till it rots through, talk about melt in your mouth.

Haddock, chips, salt and vinegar! Simple and delicious. NO I dont like cod, it's southern nancy bwoy food :)
