OK, you dislike them, that's cool.
Can you please give a reason for asserting they are shite tho? Which of them is a poor musician, which of them forgets their part, or can't pull it off.
If you want to talk about an objective view of shite...as in poor or substandard musical ability, as opposed to any mere personal preference...then I fear NO fit the definition much better than PJ do. I far prefer NO to PJ (in fact it'sbeen 10 years since I really listened, and that was only cos I had to play some covers in a band at college), but, again, the thread is not called "I dislike PJ" it makes a simple statement which is easily refuted with even the most basic evidence.
Only the religiously devout, and other mentally ill people should confuse their own views with objective truth :D

Fair point. Ok, u dont like them, but nobody can say Pearl Jam arent talented. Even Flow is just one of their amazing songs. If your going to say something, at least use some form of intelligent argument.
Forget all this fair point shit man.
Him coming on here and starting a no brainer crap argument about Pearl Jam just shows the guys a wanker. Whats the need? Is this just to piss me off cos you know they're my favourite band or what?
Hmmmmm I was watching a DVD the other day and every member of Pearl Jam had short hair.
You chat shit.
Every member of Pearl Jam past and present has more talent in them than you could ever wish for, and just because they went on to form one of the most popular bands and made something of their lives, please don't be bitter about it.
"Pearl Jam are shite." So is your face, but do you see me starting "official threads" about that?

Ok, and exactly which Pearl Jam songs have you heard recently?

Perhaps you could expand on this? Is there something inferior in their understanding of harmony or rhythm?
I'm not really familiar with their music. I think i saw a photo of them once and just thought 'tossers' so gave them a wide berth.
Never judge a book by its cover (Martyn Fry)
I'm not familiar with them so couldn't possibly comment. I'm sure i've heard their stuff but probably not realised who it is.
Sorry, i need to get out more.
awww for fuck's sake liam u chat so much shit
u have no argument whatsoever and ure just coming across as a right tosser
at least if i was gonna start a pointless thread to have a go at a band you liked that i didn't, i'd try and find some reasons, instead of just saying stuff like "shite" or "dull" and looking like a FUCKING WANKER
Missy Jem wrote: Never judge a book by its cover (Martyn Fry)
How do you judge it then? Read the fucker in the shop? ![]()
Uncle Liam wrote: Whiny, Boring, dull, american shite.
See now that is a defensible personal judgement, much more accurate (in your eyes) than "they are shite".
I avoid almost ALL american music cos it sounds like that, no point singling out one band, who, in the great scheme of things, are FAR from the bottm of the barrel.
They came out about the time I was settling down and was spending less money on music. Never got into the Seattle Scene. With all the airplay Pearl Jam, Nirvana, STP ect got I never needed to buy, steal or record their music. Jeremy is a great tune and the video is outstanding.
Jack_H wrote: and looking like a FUCKING WANKER
now now Jack, we all know I'm the biggest WANKER around here.
As my mum can tell you :\ohwell:
Exactly, they got loads of airplay cos they are mint. Undeniable. Jeremy is an amazing tune. One of my faves.
I've no real feelings for Pearl Jam, not the worst band in the world. Quite like a few American bands though Beastie Boys, REM, Ryan Adams, Killers, Killers, Strokes, New York Dolls, Nirvana etc
Well I own Ten , and I got ourkid to sort me 'Rear view mirror ' to get an overview of stuff I'd missed . Alive is a fookin beltin vocal performance , which can bring out latent air mic tendencies in me when pissed .... but the thing I dont get is what the fook long hair has to do with it , is that a bad thing now ?
And if anyone deigns to call me a Sicko Fant , I'll take it fookin personal and will welcome a face to face discussion . I think for me fuckin self *
* unless mrs garymac gives me the curly finger , which means I may be advised to decline ourkids offer of ' just the one ' in the pub:D
yeah, long hair's quality.
but what makes me laugh is that he goes on like pearl jam have long hair, when at the moment i'm pretty sure its just eddie who does and the other's don't, so he's just chattin on with himself and lookin daft
http://content.answers.com/main/content/wp/en/thumb/a/a2/350px-Band019.jpg
I rest my case that liam chats shite. here is a pic of pearl jam where ALL HAVE SHORT HAIR. not that it even matters, but it just makes him look silly so ![]()
well I think it's pretty clear why this thread started either that or a coincidence of X files proportions , I'm surprised we haven't had a ' children of famous folk who's the biggest cunt ? Kelly, Peaches , Paris or OTHER, thread yet.... time yet I s'pose .
and to re-iterate what I said on page one , anyone accusin me of bein a sicko fant , I will welcome a face to face next gig , I think for meself except clause mentioned on previous thread

what on earth are you on about fella? ![]()
tryin to make my reply appear less than partisan , whilst laughin me bollox off at the post which mentioned sicko fants in the first place, I'm fooked if wanna be one . I only agree to be a cunt 'cos Shuglet can spell it .
do people hold the lift door open,by inserting a matchstick next to the button , to piss the top floor folks off ?
Never thought about that. There is the odd weirdo who sometimes presses all the buttons before leaving.
Thankfully we have two lifts, one for even and one for odd floors.
Last December they did their first gigs in Brazil ever, I went to see them in a 40.000 people crowd here in Rio, PJ is my girlfriend #1 band, and I couldn't escape of going.
All I can say is that there were no regrets, I was truly amazed by their performance (they DO play very well) and respect for their fans.
And the best of all, they ended the 2-hour gig with an excelent version of Baba O'Riley. ![]()
if you want talk about bland american shite, lets not forget bland english shite such as oasis. A couple of ounces of creativly got dripped away in their first couple of albums. Its a shame because i used to like them.
Pearl Jam as i stated before , i rather put my head in the oven then listen to them. Quite franly, i dont like their arena rock songs, and hate grunts called vocals.
Pearl Jam are quality. They end with Baba O' Riley on one of the live dvd's i have, at least there's one mint person posting on this thread ![]()
had their day. and living that day for whoever (pls. help them)is still listening .
time and a place for everything. this isn't PJs official site. why go any further? edit- diversity.evrybody obviously can- respectfully- have their own beliefs tastes.
Yeah that's a good idea...
liam, come over to pearl jam forums with the pearl jam are shit thread and unleash the whole "pearl jam are shit" super amazing argument you have. ![]()
Their first 5 albums are quality, though massively overplayed. Used to be my favorite band back in about...er...1994.
Well, I gotta say Eddie's got a lot of his priorities straight, especially in reference to PJ's battles with Ticketbastard. Plus, I like the fact they almost always have some of their fave bands opening for them (Sleater-Kinney, Frank Black on the tour I saw back in 98, etc.) I did buy that last concert DVD they did, one reason is cause they brought the guy from Aussie band Hunters & Collectors onstage to help PJ perform a H&C track.
Can't say that I'm a fan of the newer stuff (haven't actually heard it, so that opinion could change), but I had a great time at their show, I think they've got a good sense of humour that maybe doesn't show in some of their records. Plus, who else could get their corporate record label to release so many live discs????

Yeah man it's quality.
On the DVD i have they do it with steve diggle from the buzzcocks, who were the support act.

Cheers Jack, gonna watch it again this weekend.

It's pretty good, not radically different from the original, I bought one of those myriad live albums. E-mail me, maybe I can sort something out.

they've released that many albums? i bought ten when it first came out, then i remember the next one with 'daughter' on it (didn't buy it). they have that many albums!
two of my friends (two of the other agents) got VIP tickets through work to see them at madison square garden in 2004. they got piss drunk in the VIP box and fell asleep on the floor--never saw the band play. none of us knew they were still around, much less playing MSG!
i have to admit to never really getting grunge. to me it seemed such a retrograde step in music. plus me being a new order fan the music was just too far removed from my tastes.
