This from the person who has called me an idiot for my ideas.:abovelol:

Please do stand up Liam. You are funny being a musical fascist.

He's too busy upsetting the Southern BogOrder on the ceremony forum. Busy man.

From what I've managed to make out of the atrocious English being used is :p , I think it's a simple question of "do you take offense easily?" Here's some pointers for those of you unsure where you stand on the Offence-A-Meter

  1. When someone says "your opinions are shit", do you

a.) Cry like a little baby and piss and moan about it

b.) say "screw you, mate", look up his address online, and wait outside his house with your authentic Klingon war weapon

c.) Offer to get Comrade Shampanyov drunk if he'll just get off your back about your nonexistent lovelife

  1. If the world ended today, the first thing you would save is

a.) Your signed copy of Engelbert Humperdinck's Greatest Hits on vinyl

b.) Your collection of Depeche Mode bootlegs which keep you from maintaining a healthy relationship with the opposite sex

c.) Your "Why I love ABBA and don't care who knows it" thread on the forum

  1. "Two blondes walk into a bar, you think one of them would have seen it"

a.) That is offensive, and I hate you :nonono:

b.) You are just pandering to the stereotype of blondes not being that smart. Why don't you break down the walls of your mind with some nice drugs to expand your understanding? :smoker:

c.)

  1. If a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to see it

a.) does it make a sound?

b.) did it really happen?

c.) was Comrade Shampanyov standing directly under it, like in the directions you gave him? :evil4:

If you ansewered "a" or "b" to any of the questions...fuck off :p

If you answered "c" to any of the questions...welcome, friend!

Sorry, I've seen Dateline's exclusive shows about internet predators. And I am far too inncocent to fall for such a ploy...again :nervous:

You're really quite a disturbed young man, Tabbsy. Maybe you should seek some help? Modern mental health professionals will NOT ridicule you for that time your mother caught you wanking.

If you were a withered old man, I'd ask you to meet me in a parking lot. Or better yet, the bathroom stall. That turns me on, seeing that leathery old hand sliding a note under the stall. I've seen Dateline's exclusive shows about internet predators. I've taped them. I've sent them to Diggy Mike to have them mastered on to DVD so I can see them again and again and again. :jump: And I can't wait to fall for such a ploy...again :nervous: I wish you were older, and more withered, and more disturbed. Yeah, an old goat, that's what I'd like. Or maybe an old ewe.

Try to get a grip, Tabbsy.

ok. i will tell you why i don't like pearl jam, completely and honestly.

i loved them when ten was released during my senior year of high school. i really got into the 'grunge' thing. it was all about nirvana and pearl jam for me--i wore flannel and had my hair in my face. i even had the steel-toed doc martens. i saw pearl jam on the lollapalooza tour and was transfixed.

then, as i entered uni, i re-discovered bands from earlier in my youth, such as the smiths and an obscure band called new order, who released an album my second year of uni called republic. it was not my favourite new order album, but it made me realize that my interests had shifted, and i began to listen to more british music again. after revisiting bands such as the charlatans, the stone roses, happy mondays, and getting into the prodigy, meat beat manifesto, and other forms of techno i began to realize that pearl jam were rather disposable. eddie vedder's voice became more and more annoying with each listen--the exception being 'daughter,' which was a decent track. another problem was MTV overkill of the video for 'jeremy,' a song which, if ever hear again in my life, will signal that i have died and gone to hell.

essentially, i realized that pearl jam were a 'fad,' something that were entertaining at the time but did not stand the test of time. you may feel differently. then again, when you're my age, you may feel the same way that i do about pearl jam and you may have a deep love for westlife. who knows? one man's (or woman's) piece of poo is another man's (or woman's) diamond. so it goes.

just don't ever go through a hair metal phase or i will ask for you to be banned from the site. this does not include metallica, iron maiden, anthrax or sepultura.

Cripes, let's not be so touchy.

Everyone has their own tastes. This is a new order forum. We expect everyone to like New Order. Everyone else is fair game. If you require justification, so be it. But let's keep it cicil, huh?

I hate Pearl Jam. I have no juistification. I just can't stand it. The fact that you like Pearl Jam matters not. They may be geniuses whose wisdom I dont see - i don't know. Musical taste is hard to pin down, but its also very important to people. Perhaps instead if 'pearl jam suck' or whatever, let's say 'i think pearl jam suck'. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it isn't valid at all. I can't stand Beethoven but I'm aware that he's a musical genius. But he doesn't appeal to me.

Howza bout we all take a deep breath and chill, yes?

Well said Woodsy but I still like Jeremy. To me Pearl Jam meant the death to "alternative" music. What was alternative became mainstream. The damn Seattle Scene caught the attention of the Corporations.

I was pissed when I posted that and I have no idea what it means. Sorry.

By "Tomorrow's fish and chip paper" I probably meant that today's thread will very quickly fall off the bottom of the page and be forgotten about (if you let it). Things that get said around here should be taken with a pinch of salt. Incidentally, Tomorrow's Fish and Chip Paper is the name of a song by Elvis Costello, who I think is a genius.

Liam, stop being a prick. Pearl Jam are a band, get over it. And yourself. Moaning about other people's musical tastes is childish. Unless it's the Cure, of course.

And stop being a Tory too. That's childish as well.

Are you suggesting that I don't have the right to tell Liam to stop being a prick?

Oh really???

Let's exercise this freedom with a discussion of The Cure and Depeche Mode.

I think Mike should be found a moderator's position, are there any openings?

Odd for someone to ask for MORE moderators. A bit like turkeys asking for more Christmases.

We have the right level of moderation on here. I've only been moderated once, as far as I know, and that was because I swore badly at someone. I got an explaination, and it was quite right.

Other sites have just about every post moderated. I have once a post removed all together from WIM (which wasn't really rude - just a silly joke about Krafty's chart performance).

If the moderators think they need help, that's up to them. If they feel like asking us who we want to do it, I'm sure we'd all have opinions.

Whoever does it, I hope the style of moderating that we enjoy is preserved.

As you all know - my middle name is moderation :thumb:

I was under the impression Shug jacked in,and there was an opening, maybe I misread something or the position was filled,no harm done.

Jack_H wrote: I would have thought breaking a guideline would mean a locked thread, and he broke one.

me calling him a wanker or something is also an opinion, maybe he's the best guy in the world, and you said opinions are allowed.

is there a guideline for calling someone names? Okay so i was out of line, but how am i gonna react when someone says my favourite band are shit for no reason, and then his argument is non existent.

Once again...if he were to personally attack YOU, or any other member for liking Pearl Jam, then there would be cause to act. Simply stating that he feels that Pearl Jam are rubbish/shite, nothing wrong with that...

You can have the opinion that he is a wanker...hell, you can think he's the biggest cunt in the world for all I care, but putting up a thread that states such is a personal attack on another member, and as such, is not allowed.

End of.
