What is, in the opinion of the here-gathered wise ones, the single most annoyingly false thing you see on TV shows.
Although I am primarily NOT thinking of sci fi, I would like to offer the following......
in any show involving teleportation, inevitably there will at some point be a story involving contamination of the signal with other lifeforms (essentially a riff on "the fly"), in Star Trek as an example they make big song and dance numbers out of bio filters and saying things like "there are two lifeforms in the pattern buffer". well see the thing is, that a single human being is a veritable colony of other beasites...all sorts of bacteria and microbes that are essential to our wellbeing (and in some cases survival)....yet tese are always ignored in such sequences....I mean essentially....if we take "the fly" as an example....the first experiment conducted should have resulted in, half man half stomach microbe, should it not.
NOTE:if any trekkers want to argu, I will gladly bring up the trilithium torpedo sequence in Generations which had me AGHAST at it's silliness. Star wars fans...just ssshhhhh ok?
OK to bring things MUCH closer to reality, and serve to hopefully inspire those of a non sci-fi mindset......
Why is it that anywhere else on earth's surface, the speed of sound is 330M/s, but in Hollywood (and other lesser places of course) it travels at the speed of light?
Even on the NEWS, they DUB explosion effects over the visible explosion. In the real world, if lightning strikes or something blows up 1 mile away, you see the light and roughly speaking, hear the sound 5 seconds later....but on TV, nope...instantaneous.
Whereas my first example is obviously just me being an anal retentive geek fuckwitt....this second thing, is actually a worry....it affects the perception of reality that many people have, because it sinks in over time.
oh while we're at it....something that REALLY annoys me..... a "surprised" resident opening the door for the presenter of a show.....shot from the inside GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
