Hey NOOLers. I'm going to London for a week from March 6-13. A friend had someone back out at the last minute and i've decided to risk financial ruin and head to the big smoke. I need some advice. We're on a shoestring budget and need info on Hostels and/or cheap arrangements. Information on London activities for that week would be appreciated too. Any New Order related activities during that time? Anyone up for a NOOL meet during that week? I'd love to meet some of the folks i haven't met before and also see Don, Al and Marc on their home turf. Would be a perfect time for Tim and Mike to tell me off to my face! Perhaps we can find some common ground and exchange New Order stories.

I want a picture of Tim & You shaking hands...!!!!!!!!!!! ![]()
Hey, I have one with David Sultan, so you both can, I'm sure of it ![]()
Can't give much advice on hostels and suchlike but I'm defo around for a few jars. Shame, you'll miss Re-order by a whisker (18th).
Thanks guys. Its really short notice so anything will be appreciated. I'm still kind of stunned since it wasn't in my plans to go to London. I'm contemplating a day or two trip to Amsterdam. Any advice on travelling over there cheaply? Last time i went from London to Amsterdam I took a ferry and a bus, brutal trip but fairly cheap if i remember correctly.
I didn't expect you wanting to meet me, or do you mean another Marc.
I'm in Birmingham at the moment, it's where I study and I won't be back to April.

I've done the ferry crossing / train before. It's a mare. Takes about 12hrs, doesn't it, from memory, at least? You're better off flying. No really dirt cheap flights to Amsterdam but I think you should be able to get something for under 100 notes. And it's only 45mins by air, no distance at all.
FUCK!
If it was April I would have made the effort to get down to see you and Rina me ole fruitcake, but I am out of holidays until then and have had far too much time off work recently ![]()
Hope you have a great time

Try www.letsgo.com
www.lonelyplanet.com
Not used the websites much, but i have a couple of the lonely planet guide books and they have been invaluable to me in the past for sorting cheap hostels.
Not a clue about hostels, but if you want a night of relative luxury, the Travel Lodge near Liverpool Street is doing double rooms for about £26 a night which is fecking cheap.

Just over a week left. Friend is doing a gig on March 7th in Shoreditch at the Old Grey Tavern or something like that. Will be fun. If anyone can make it, i'll give the full addy and info.
also, curious about seeing a Football match. Looks like Aresenal are sold out while we're there. Any tips/other teams to check out where tix may be available.
when/where could people meet?

Arsenal???? ![]()
don't care about the club but their website was the easiest to find tickets and schedules.
any suggestions for seeing a game?
will be able to attend a match march 8-12th
Couple of massive games in the dates given Brian. Chelsea v Spurs on Saturday 11th ko 12.45 Arsenal v Liverpool on Sunday 12th ko 16.00 Tickets will be like gold dust for these games, small consolation is they'll be televised on Sky Sports though. Realistically, the only Premiership game you may have a chance of getting a ticket for in London that weekend is Charlton v Middlesborough on the Sunday ko 15.00.
EDIT - Tickets are on general sale for Charlton. http://tickets.cafc.co.uk/ticketSelect.ink
Nothing wrong with going to a Championship game
I suppose Fulham aren't playing at home that week? They always have a few tickets spare unless the big boys are in town.

You might pay through the nose for Charlton. If you can't do that then realistically the only London games you can make are Brentford and Orient, who are both at home. You can get tickets on the day for both of those and will come in cheaper than Charlton. I'm up at Luton-Leccy that day, but the likes of QPHa and Millwall are both away, sadly. You'd have loved the New Den! ![]()
We got a date set for a few drinks?!
What about Saturday, 11th? Our usual haunt in Soho. What say you, Bri?!

Very near. We always seem to end up in the Slug on corner of Wardour/Meard. Iain and Bunny actually live on Meard Street and you can see their front-door through the pub window!

Down in London once a month with mrs garymac and have passed the Slug many times , hadn't realised it was a Viking haunt ! Usualy gravitate to the Coach at some point, with it's unique charms and diversity of local characters .... I digress , this 11 march meeting , open invite ? If so will aim to be in Euston for 11.30 and then on to the Coach for ' just the one ' and then find yourselves. Waiting for yes/no from ourkid and also deciding if this is a daytrip situation or seeking a place to crash and home next day

Slug is shit but it does serve Kronie Blanc. Coach is a better 'boozer'. Only suggested 11th to see what Brian fancies. Guess it's his call really? He's the tourist in town!

Fair play , Brians call . My thinking is; get Virgin first class tickets whilst cheap and if no-show from Brian have a mini alcoholiday in t'smoke , if the Vikings are still playin out we'll have a drink in Biznotics honour and bill him accordingly:D Other than that , fall back plan for non-Viking situation = ' just the one ' in the Coach and then go off to see some old Clash haunts sarf of the rivah .
I'm on a stag doo in liberpool on the 11th, but if we sort anything for anyother day of BLT's trip i'll pop along
Looks like our decision has been pretty much made for us. Midnight Blue's just sent me a text saying he's having a birthday drink in Soho on the 11th!
Venue is here - The Soho
Perhaps meet somewhere else first (Slug?) early'ish for a swiftie, and then all pile up there.
I'll be in Central London around 7'ish cos I've got footie first.
YES! the 11th is perfect for me. anywhere is good, soho is close to our hostel so that works well.

Couple of us will be in the Slug and Lettuce, Wardour Street (corner of Meard Street), from 7pm then. Johnny G and Donato are definites. Then we'll have a wander up to Midnight Blue's bash in Greek Street after a couple of liveners.
See you soon.
