Been happening for a few days now, manage to log on after numerous attempts but having difficulty in reading any threads. Keep getting the message "Error website not responding". Very annoying. :banghead:

I'm just finding the site slower than SVEN's ability to realise Beckham is a TWAT !

LOL...I was LITERALLY returning to the root of BCD to post this very same question, great minds thinking alike and all that.

I do not get that error, because I use opera, which gets hold of links like a rat and will not let go...but I get PRECISELY the behaviour that triggers it....

I click a link, be it to read a thread or to post one or to refresh the forum......and NOTHING happens for the LONGEST time....sometimes as much as 5 minsutes will pass before I get any kind of response. Oddly when I DO get a response the data USUALLY comes think and fast and the pages loads and renders in mere seconds.

The outbound data is DEFINITELY making it out, because ....if I, for example, post a new thread, and the connection goes dead as above when I click submit....If I go back to the thread (before waiting on the submit page taking me back there) and refresh, my post is there.

It does not seem to happen to everyone but.

Another thing worth noting is the general lack of traffic round here recently...I think people get bored shiteless waiting on it to answer.

I'm starting to suspect that Spotnick's been scammed...as I seem to recall him saying this site is hosted on a real server....I would suggest that this is not the case, as the response times of NOOL do not vary in direct proportion to the number of users HERE.... which indicates that another site on the same machine is loading up the machine's CPU causing requests to NOOL's sql databse (which unless I am very much mistaken is tied into the forums) to go into a queue.

Time to beg for upgrade cash again Spotty my man.

--just s-o- s- l--o-w- --time being such a premium and all.for about the last week. for anyone else. try and read a thread/ change location within the site whatever/ even submit a post and muinutes can go by- just nothing-. same get back to the thread and see that it was in fact posted. try and speed it up - and use ' back-key ' instead of refresh and argH turns into a double post. - really could use an upgrade or a clean out or something.

When you hit submit and it dies, use the back button to get back to the thread and refresh it, your post will almost invariably have been received perfectly, it's the response back that's fuckered.

It has been slowwwwww....oftentimes I can finish another task while a post of mine is being added to the forum. That's how slow it is.

If Mike being a mod is considered normal, anything else couldn't be taken as a problem!

But I'm having to log on everytime I come back here. I suspect that's deliberate :skeptic:

Can I just make a point BTW....I see things said here, and have heard them from the fingers (so to speak) of otherwise rational intelligent people. (PS Comrade, the following is not at you, your post is merely co-incidental).

For those of you in work: When you get a message saying "there server is not responding", or "Server busy" or "server load too high" or anything pertaining to "server" 95 times out of 100, it does NOT refer to the steaming pile of Dr-Who set dressing that lives down in I.T.

That's the company file server, it may also provide other SERVices to the internal network, but it's unlikely to be involved in putting NOOL on your screen (the exception being a proxy server, where you ask a machine in house for a page, and it asks the internet and passes it back to you.....but they tend to produce their own weird and wonderful error pages, easy to spot)...

Nope in this case the word SERVER refers to neworderonline.com, the machine and or/connection providing that "service" has gone baps up, or fallen asleep or is busy fending off 100,000 hits from fucking search robots.

Apologies to those who find any of this patronizing (or hideously inaccurate due to simplicity), just trying to de-mystify things a wee bit. I know there are those here who sit in terror of their computer's vast intellect and so on.....it aint like that really, they're stupid and simple :D

or, is it down to the release of 2 new noolradio podcasts and lots of us are updating our ipods

I don't think the streams come from the same place as the site and fora?

Tho, it did start to go (more) tits up (than usual) about the time when everyone would have been panicking to upload C2 stuff.

It's fast at this time of night (half past midnight) but in the earlier evening and the day it's impossible to use :(

more importantly - is it good porn, or is someone grepping free images off the "backyard beatup beauties" sites? inquiring hands would like to know. :evil4:

edited to add: I too am having site slowness. Noticeably less slowness on IE than on FF or Konqueror, but still slowness. Experienced one of those click vote and wait 5 minutes for page to respond deals.

At a non-peak time, too.

A woman who used "grepping" :love2:

And with that I go dream sweet dreams. :D

(actually...given that I've been watching Daleks rack up a fair old bodycount for the last couple of hours, fuck knows what sort of dreams I'll have LOL)
