The Go-Betweens, I mean. Their "That striped sunlight sound" DVD is currently on heavy rotation at the Round&Round chateau.

Well, that's good news, I might pick it up this weekend in another town, don't think there's a copy in the city in which I reside.

They are responsible for one of the most sublime musical moments of my life: on the 16 Lovers Lane tour, Robert and Grant did a pre-gig acoustic performance at a local record store, before a packed house of both fans and curious people. The version of Dive For Your Memory heard during that set brought an amazing mix of appreciative silence during the playing, as well as an audible sigh from all of those attending, at the end of the song. Still smile at that memory....

I concur... On the Saints AND the Go-Betweens... Especially Bye Bye Pride, one of the best uses of the clarinet/oboe (I can never remember which) in popular music...

It's an oboe, and another example of it's fine use in modern popular music is, of course, Electronic's "Some distant memory"...

There's a LOT of fine material on both Robert and Grant's solo albums, not sure if anybody here's picked up any of them. Robert's first one, Danger In The Past, is a classic, produced by Mick Harvey. Usually play either Watershed or Horsebreaker Star by Grant first.

Personally, I rate GM's "Fireboy" and RF's "Calling from a country phone" as their best solo efforts. Could "Fingers" be the best ballad ever written?

By the way, I have them all, apart from "Warm nights" and the Jack Frost albums, wich have eluded me ever since their releases...
