Awesome! Hopefully it wasn't a scary operation that meant life or death but just some annoyance that had to be dealt with! I would have had a large scar from my gallbladder removal, but they opted for a laser-based approach, and I got three fingernail sized scars dotting my stomach.

it wasn't scary for me. i woke up a week later. i almost died from blood poisoning and they went in to have a look. in those days they didn't think of things like that first. that only came after that flesh eating bacteria scare. i spent a whole month in hospital.

i once got smacked over the head with a baseball bat outside a nightclub for no reason,all i remember was Shugzv saying you need to go to the hospital,i was very drunk at the time..

I'm very glad they got it all sorted out. :) My dad had to go in for blood poisoning after a business trip to Mexico - he'd had this psorisis-like rash on his foot and he kept scratching at it until the wound became infected and whatever was causing the skin rash began attacking his arteries. Scary stuff.

Speaking of cool injuries - the old man is also one tough nail. Working out in the manufacturing area, he frequently slams his thumb or finger into a component of some big rig at some point - so he developed the technique of drilling his own holes into his fingernails to relieve the pressure and heal the wound quicker.

It's great hearing him tell people who enquire about his weird holed nails that he's been attacked by an army of midgets or triton-weilding sea monkeys and the like.

Seven broken fingers (not all different ones), most recent being when I caught my hand in the studio door when we were recording a demo in October 2003, dislocated elbow, broken nose, eye socket and cheekbone (at the same time when the keeper came out feet first as I dived in), torn medial ligament and ruptured cruciate ligament in same knee (separate occasions), broken right tibia, broken toe. I also have a scar with 33 stitches on my right hip, and one with 15 stitches on my stomach. 13 knee operations over the years as well. Who said life isn't a battleground?

That PJ O'Rourke story about driving fast while getting your wing-wang squeezed was the first story I ever read of his in National Lampoon, I didn't know it wound up in one of his books.

Tip of right little finger permanently broken, it's at about a 40 degree angle.

Tip of left little finger sliced open by a knife, needed five stitches, mark still visible.

Plantar fasciitis, both feet, from walking miles and miles on concrete without the proper support.

Melly- sht. my dad has drilled his finger nails too. he flipped an old TR- Triuumph open convertable and has a back etched by the bridge.

Daver- is that you in your Avatar. by X-Ray think that they've said all of my fingers have been broken. wrist a couple of times. volleyball, biking that sort of thing. have a couple scars that may tattooed to look like an anchor. not sure. a fun one is that by an MRI- they've said that a disc in my back is wrong from ( think) jumping out trees and whatnot when younger.

That reminds me of one that I'm surprised I forgot.

When I was seven, I tore up the middle finger of my right hand quite badly while fixing my bike chain. It was all my friend's fault, since he gave the pedal a crank while my fingers were still tinkering with the gears. The results were pretty nasty -- I remember wearing a big honking bandage over my finger to school for the next week or so.

Knocked a tooth out when I was in 5th grade; stepped over a kid on the field at the same time that he stood up.

Scar on my chin; I was pulling a nail with a crowbar when the nail head broke, and the crowbar jammed up into my chin. Then, a couple years later, I had a car accident and split my scar open on the steering wheel. :)

Knee used to hurt in cold weather because I was swinging a hammer once, missed the nail, and hit my knee HARD instead.

Scar on my thumb from when I was cutting wood with a power saw, and the saw grabbed the wood, pulling my hand into the saw. I was wearing gloves, and all I could see was blood. Did NOT want to see trhe results underneath, but when i pulled the glove off, thankfully I still had my thumb. This was years ago, and I've finally got most of the feeling back in my thumb. :)

Years before I cut that thumb, I jammed a sliver under that thumbnail. The sliver ran from the tip of the nail all the way to the first knuckle. :)

Years ago, I had both wrists badly sprained. I fell on one wrist while sparring, and about a week or so later, went over the handlebars on my bike when I took a curb at the wrong angle, and sprained the other wrist. Took months before they healed.

Broke a knuckle when I broke a board in Tae Kwon Do.

Whiplash injury remaining from when my car was rear-ended.

Then there's the time I fell while playing footie in the snow on a mountaintop in Serbia. Landed on my back, and when I tried to get up, I couldn't; I had dislocated my shoulder. I popped it back in, but it dislocated seven times in two days. The last time, I finally had to go to the hospital. Traveled home through Europe with one arm and four bags. :)

Those are the ones I remember off the top of my head...

1. Three stitches above my right eye when I was 5. Running around a freshly planted tree and tripped on a wire holding it up and landing on a rail road spike that anchored the wire.

2. Fratured three bones in my left foot while climbing on billboards at the age of 6. My friends were able to jump to the other one but I was scared and decided to jump off instead. During my descent I reasoned that I should land on my left foot because I was right handed and thus my right side was superior. God that was stupid. Had to walk 3 miles on it to my friends house. Spent the summer in a cast.

3. Several stitches on a finger (too dark to see scar) after slicing it while cutting fish.

4. Nice scar on right side of head (hair covers it but visible if hair is cut short). Friend decides to roll his father's 4x4 Chevy truck. Probably should have had stitches but begged for butterfly tape instead.

5. Sliced right hand index finger in the above incident. Probably should have had stitches but begged for butterfly tape instead. Still very visible after 25 years.

Another one I forgot about is the time a rooster attacked me, leaving some very visible scars on the inside of my right wrist.

Looks a bit like I tried to kill myself.

We ate the rooster.

Only two that are notable:

1. broke out my front tooth, drunk and racing shopping carts down a really steep hill. . .not too smart (10 years ago)

2. Crooked nose from a fight I had when a guy sweerved his car purposefully at my wife, because he "thought it was funny". Guy got a lucky swing, but I sent him to the hospital for 6 stiches and a busted nose (his blood was everywhere).

Talking of Aberdeen, we've just been offered a gig up there. Would have to be either a great payer or part of a small Scottish tour though - Glasgow and Embra promoters get in touch pronto!

Not many injuries with a story except..travelling down middle of the main street in Newark at about 3am being pushed in a supermarket trolley. The driver (of the trolley) didn't see the pavement ahead and when the trolley hit it I went up in the air and landed on my back. Very painful and bruised. Couldn't sit down for a bloody long time.
