The EU have finally lifted the ban on beef exports to Europe after ten years, following the Mad Cow Disease thang.

Let's hope the French are choking on their 'rosbif'

Actually.. its a bit more than coincidental, is it not, that the beef ban is lifted as bird flu approaches us imminently.

Looks like steaks all round for a couple of years methinks.

Down to KFB for a Bargain Bucket before we know it.

because of the H5N1 virus.

some infected birds have been found dead near Marseilles. others upon Lyon area, others by the south of Bordeaux... in some places there are cat-hunts because of the dead German cat... authorities say that it is better to keep them inside... in the most concerned places.

worries about foie-gras. some people already think about their Christmas dinner ! what if there is no foie-gras and turkey ?... also keep one eye on the ducks...

and to conclude I heard that some countries already banned French poultry...

then, if you want to get a cheap chicken, go shopping in France (more competetive bargains than in Tesco I guess). I think they lower the price everyday, already more than 33% off. people are so worried... but I suppose that you experienced that with your beef ten years ago. paranoid population, massive sales on the products that cannot be sold abroad...

Paranoia is often much more damaging than the actual virus, especially as it disappears in the process of cooking.

Apologies for singling out the French earlier, but beef bans from France nearly crippled the whole industry over here.

Hell, I wouldnt want the UK government to ban poultry imports (unless live poultry). It just needs cooking, ya paranoid freaks out there..

*waves fist*... Grrr

No problem Burt... You already cleared the situation...

The sad side of it all is that the people depending on the sales of poultry are going to meet hard times like UK farmers and all the industry behind it did... And in no way I feel hurt by what you said about the French. In these situations, all politicians shout that embargo is the solution to prevent the spread of a wave of paranoia in the population who will later have a rendez-vous with them during election times... they save their souls before they save ours... there is no nationalism in this, even if they turn things this way...
