In Portland today. Never seen it mid-March before. Quite excting for a California boy, except for that gut feeling he can't shake part that it's all to do with global climate change... :uhoh:

I grew up in the midwest and have seen snow in May so do not fret, comrade, and that was many moons ago. That reminds me of a novel I once read called "Snow in Summer" by a Japanese writer name Kawabata. It's set in Kyoto, Japan where it snows in mid-summer, not sure if that's actually true or not but the book is quite poetic.

On a side note: here in Washington DC today it was a balmy 70°....like a bright light on the horizon.

Been awhile since it's happened, but I'll enjoy it just the same. Just a bit of a shock after the really nice weather last week, but the calendar still says it's winter..:deal:

I just love the total team coverage that all of the TV stations provide for the two or three inches we got; I'd prefer to be blanketed with all of that if there was a layer of black ice underneath it all.

Damn...I thought this thread was going to be about Snow the white Canadian rapper.

Comrade,

What part of CA are you from?

Silicon Valley. And I really hate using that as a geographic term, but it's better than saying San Jose. D'OH! :ignore:

Sorry, from San Diego myself. Also lived in Corvallis for 3 years. Loved OR, miss it (except the 3 months of straight rain). Wife couldn't stand the rain, but it was great. Loved the summers, don't think there is anywhere where the summers are more fun and beautiful.

It is almost mid-March and we need snow! Today we got rain which is even better. But it would not be strange to get 12" of snow sometime this month.

It's very strange for Portland. It usually snows here once a year, in December or January. The first time it snowed when I was here, I went outside for a late night walk just to savor it. But it's very unusual in mid-March, although Green is right-- technically, it's still winter for another week or so.

San Diego-- perfect California weather. :bow2:

I remember being outside in Januray in a t-shirt, wondering if I would be happy giving up my California winters, but I haven't minded the rain one bit. It doesn't last all that long; starts in October, ends in May.

Comrade, it snowed (well, okay, sleet mixed with rain) for about 2 minutes on the 101 going into work this morning.

It was weird.

Probably won't be around long. Meeting friends at Union Square, then we probably head upstate. Not sure what time I'm meeting them, though, so I may have time to say your name.
