canberra about 300 000. 380 000 if you count the surrounding towns.
sydney getting towards 5 million population is only three hours by car away.
Bremen has about 500 000. I haven't lived there in ages, although once a Bremer always a Bremer.

What is the Philly metro area? Is it all of the suburbs, both PA and south jersey, or is it just all 57 neighborhoods?

Yeah... I wasn't even thinking of south jersey because for census purposes the philly metro is the pa suburbs. I grabbed it from the census figures i was working with at work. but really south jersey and northern de would be as well.

4 million all told here at the moment, but Jo'burg and Pretoria are growing into each other at a rate of knots so they say by 2015 it will all be the twelth largest city in the world.
