Went into a shop today and saw a poster from the BBC, looking for goths to take part in a program about the subculture in NI.
Nice to see goth getting some recognition as a subculture with tradition, but I would guarantee you that half of the goths nowadays don't have a clue about the history of it.

There was hardly anyone in the shop. Disappointing, but it'll be interesting to see. Walked past City Hall (for those with no knowledge of Belfast, this is where most of them congregate, as well as punks, metallers etc) and there was a preacher, belting out of a megaphone about loving God and respecting one another.

I been trying to work out where they are all coming from.
As far as I know the Goth died out in around 1989/1990. there are two possible theories I have at the moment.
Don;t "neo-goths" listen to very commercial major label music like marylin manson and stuff like that?

I'm just assuming that if this program is for tv, then they'd want the participants to look the part.
i'm sure i don't have to tell you that metal and goth are quite distinct.

It never went away, but with the release of the film 'The Crow' and industrial metal i.e. Nine Inch Nails, it took on a different form.

True. In Malone College, most of the goths were girls and middle class.
