OK, fair enough. No wonder I couldn't stand with Mr. Plateauhead.

But in all honesty, what has Marr done since 1987!? You'll find Moz solo much, much easier to listen to than Johnny's Boomslang album...

Ditto  A fantastic album and he seems to be on top form. Managing a number 3 single with fuck all airplay and next to no TV appearances is pretty impressive I thought. Life Is A Pigsty is the best track on the album so far (for me).

I understand what some people are saying about his backing music being a little uninspired but I don't really listen to a Morrissey album for groundbreaking sounds. It's pretty much accepted there's very few people out there (maybe Neil Tennant of PSB) who can write lyrics as well as him. It says it all when you read Hooky calling him a twat in one sentence but then admitting Morrissey's words are very very good in another.

I think folk who won't listen to Moz because Marr's no longer involved are depriving themselves of some bloody good albums and tunes. Vauxhall & I is up there with any Smiths LP as are Viva Hate and Your Arsenal.

Kill Uncle is shite mind, might want to avoid that one

Deadhead.

I have not listened to the Dead since the first Saturday of February. And that was at a friends house. Its not all guitar jams, it is a blend of folk and country and rock.

Morrissey has put out quite a few good albums but this one is kinda shitty. Or maybe just boring - although I was kinda wasted and maybe expecting something better last night when I gave it a first listen. I'll have to throw it on later now that I'm sober and feeling like crap.

Its certainly not my favourite Moz album but there are few good songs in there. Our Frank, Sing Your Life, King Leer & Driving your girlfriend home.

No, I meant that it's not his voice. Barney sings with his own voice, Hooky sings with his own voice. Mozzer doesn't...he sings with a made up "mozzer voice" likewise fat bob's is an Affectation. Dave gahan...made up, Martin Gore, real. Bowie...both.

See what I'm driving at?

If anyone wants to decide where Brian Ferry and Dylan fit in considering how they speak, work away :D

Bollocks. I'm think its likely that I've seen morrissey live more times than you steve, and from this i can tell you there is no way that Morrissey is singing in what you appear to be describing as a 'fake voice.' Whatever that is anyway. You know what he sounds like when he is singing? He sounds like steven patrick morrissey singing!

Have you ever thought that Bernard sings in his own voice because he's not a particularly great vocalist? And that Morrissey and Robert Smith are just better singers?

I never said he was a bad singer Liam, just that I personally do not like that style of forced voice (fake is too strong, sorry). His voice grates me is all, which is a sodding shame to be honest cos he's a remarkable songwriter.

As for Barney, you may be on to someting....but there's another possibility, I myself for instance sing in quite a light girlish voice because the only other "natural" one in me is a fucking terrifying operatic tenor that can rattle windows and ring ears.

Mayhaps Barney is secretly placido domingo on his days off?

to my ears Morrisey DOES have a forced voice when he gets to a certain range. Probably coz he cant do it naturally.

Kylie & Madonna do the same...but they get away with it because they have good buttocks.

~Morrissey gigs would scare me to death. coz whenever i've seen his gigs on the telly, its just fanatical 30 something blokes with flowers, who look like they're about to invade the stage and jump on his neck.

do any tarts go to his gigs?

Painful bearded lezzers most likely, wearing boiler suits and DM's.
