I have heard Belle & Sebastian's name thrown around here a bit and I was wondering if anyone can give me some of the good song names. I am going to this festival next month and they are performing and I would like to know a few songs.

Frohn, i'm surprised you could'nt find room for 'The Model' and 'Women's Realm' from 'Fold your hands child, you walk like a peasant'. Surely two of their finest!

If you pick up just one album, it has to be "If You're Feeling Sinister", and then "The Boy With The Arap Strap".
At some point, there's been a boxset with their three first EPs, don't know if it's still available but it's very good too.
2 best songs for me : "If You're Feeling Sinister" and "The State I am in".
legal man. it's their catchest song. least folky too and it's the only one i ever truly liked by B&S. it's great and so's the video...
Sure Muffy, good songs, these two would´ve been number 23 and 24 then :-) but even at 80 minutes you have to cut somewhere...
Like I might have said earlier, can't see what all the fuss is about B&S - they are so fey they make Prefab Sprout sound like a death metal band.

it's their indie rock ethic and the fact that music snobs love name dropping this band. i wonder where thier ethics are now since it now costs $40 to see them live (or at least a friend told me it costs this much...)

I would hesitate to even pay 40 English PENCE to see that band. Pffft!
They've really got everyone under their control haven't they? Believing the hype, that is..... 
I just like their music, compared to Nsync and the like it's very refreshing. New Order fans just have better taste, can we agree on that?
Belle and Sebatian annoy me. They've got that whole 'Oh i'm miserable, but i won't do anything about it'. There's no passion, or anger or fire in their lyrics or music.
They could have been a very good house band for anorak-clad trainspotter conventions, mind.
Perhaps they arrived on the scene a little too late for Sarah Records to sign them up.

remember, this band is one of those bands that used to never tour. in their early days, they refused. so they're gonna milk ya for as much as they can for their concerts cuz ya know, they may never come back

I take great umbridge at you little tinkers belittling the efforts of one of the greatest purveyors of 'chamber pop' in the world. Stuart Murdoch and his assembled cast adhere to a sensibility not a million miles removed from that of a particular favourite of mine and yours, New Order, that is to say that making music is for fun and should not take over every other aspect of life. They have never beaten the path of the publicity machine, have never been into self promotion or all the hyperbole that comes with it. No, catchy pop tunes have been the order of the day and what is wrong with that, because as i'm sure you realise, sometimes music is just for entertainment and not to change the world in a Sting or U2esque type way. And besides, they were formed in Glasgow, and that's good enough for me! :p

I'm not a big fan of the band, but I absolutely love Sleep the Clock Around.
Speaking of which, I'd say the clock has gone 'round a few times since this thread began.
There is one good choon you wanna checkout by Belle and Seb called.. Electronic Renaissance, its well worth an ear

my favourite belle and sebastian song and one of my top ten songs of all time! 'she's losing it' is a brilliant tune, as is 'i don't love anyone.' tigermilk is a true winner, full stop.
Wow...this is an old-school thread! (goes back to the pre-cambrian era) 
I picked up the "Books" single a few weeks back, it's got a nice "change of pace" tune called Your Cover's Blown which has a lot in common with "Electronic Renaissance"
