OMG AM I GOING BACK TO MANCHESTER?!?!?!@#!@#!@?

In September 2004 i was supposed to finish a ma program in Politics at University of Manchester, but due to circumstances beyond my control was unable to...

I got an email this morning from the Administrator of the Department saying that I was supposed to start in Sept 05 and that I'd have to let her know by 1 June if I wanted to go in Sept 06 or 07.

1. It threw me for a loop because I thought I had that sorted and because my enrollment wasn't 05 it was 04

2. I emailed her back and said "I'd like to defer to 07 thank you"

I've delayed growing up once again. This time I'm better suited because I've got more money--i'm older and more dedicated to what i want. I've got more time to get some money from the British Council AND I'm closer to my italian citizenship so if I get my act together before 2007 I'll be able to get a proper job and maybe EU member rates.

Also, a random phone call this morning and a northern accent on the other end reminds me how much i MISS IT THERE.

My MA Politics was from Manchester. School has changed massively in the last few years. Lovely people though!

I got into both MMU in a research degree and Manchester for the MA Politics which isn't a research degree. I got sucked into "not wanting my degree from an old poly".

To get into a comparable program here is so much more expensive, and you have to take the entrance exam with 10th grade math(s), which I've not taken since--shocker--10th grade. My degrees are in politics, I will never ever need to know how to calculate the area of a triangle inside a circle.

which is a BIG part of the reason i did my masters' in IR in the UK!

Go for it! I'm going back to the states in two weeks, and I feel completely numb. Doesn't seem real, I have to leave my boyfriend and best friend and this great city behind, basically dropping my entire life and everything I've worked for the past several years.

I earned an MA in English from York and one in Library Management from MMU. I considered coming back to study but I need more cash before thinking about adding to my short-stack of degrees.

There's no way you can stay? I was a couple months short of a partner visa when i had to leave (and I had a student visa so that while I was on my student visa i could get the partner visa and stay)

That sucks. i'm sorry. It's been about a year for me and i've still not recovered

four years for me and i'm ready to get on the next plane. hopefully i'll be moving back for good in a year or so.

We've talked about getting married, but neither of us are really ready for that. It's really trying being in a relationship where your only options are basically get hitched or separate. We did look into other options but they'd be awkward. I've been on a tourist visa for the past six months, I suppose I could stay indefinitely but I need to work!

Once I get back I'll see what kind of options I have. Hopefully I can work something out.
