Right, I'm off, away on a dangerous mission. The TARDIS is in for repairs too :( I'll see some of you later, more of you tomorrow and the rest upon my return. Do let me know if the place came back from the dogs in my absence :D
So long suckers

thanks for posting this update on your movements. i would have been worried shitless when you weren't posting if you hadn't done it.
[white](nb have a nice "visit") [/white]
that's a ridiculous argument, though what i'd come to expect. so you are saying it's okay for him to post some meaningless shite but i can't question it?
if you don't like my post don't reply.
there's a hidden message in it for him. bet you can't see it though.

Sometimes this place has me in tears!!!
To get it back on topic.....I hope yer gonna fill us all in with the details Steve, otherwise yer just teasing us ;)
hibster wrote: that's a ridiculous argument, though what i'd come to expect. so you are saying it's okay for him to post some meaningless shite but i can't question it?
What is meaningful? We're not all philosophers on this board. He is simply wishing people well, and hoping that he will meet certain people on this board. Not far removed from the Liverpool call up thread on Ceremony.
What's meaningful about your signature? Saying what music you've listened to today? So what?
hibster wrote: if you don't like my post don't reply.

You don't want him to be comfortable with your ideas.
I'll change my argument:
If you don't like the threads, start your own.
what you are clearly failing to grasp in the example you quote, christopher, is that one is about a concert for the band this web site is set up for. so that people can plan thier itineries, often in different countries to where they live, seek advice on flights, hotels, where to stay etc.
the other is some bloke seeing someone later who he could e-mail to tell. or - & this may be a strange concept to you - he could just telephone her.
this is a message board that the whole (internet enabled )world can access. you don't have to be a philosopher (though surely in our own ways, we all are) but do try & realise the differences between a global message board & a private email distriution list.
& my sig is just my sig. its not meant to be anything. why do you have mr osterberg wishing me good morning? for a start it's gone 8 at night.
& as i suspected you have not seen the hidden message.
Hibster's winning the argument at this point but things could twist and turn still yet,Stay tuned
well i'm obviously enthralled by owen's debate, but i will leave it for a bit to give him a chance to digest it whilst i prepare my tea

But essentialy, it's the same thing, no matter what way you look at it. He is looking to see if others who he doesn't really know are coming. It isn't just specifically aimed at Jem. Same with the Liverpool thread. And this is the first time he has done this in a long, long time. If he was constantly doing it, I would understand why you are annoyed. Give the guy a break.

But surely it's better for an outsider to see this, as it looks like a genuine community, and not a pack of people with a fear of meeting people?
And if we are all philosophers in our own way, then surely the 'shite' is reflective of our culture, if we are to follow your line of argument? Surely then it becomes meaningful?
hibster wrote: & my sig is just my sig. its not meant to be anything. why do you have mr osterberg wishing me good morning? for a start it's gone 8 at night.
Using your own words 'its not meant to be anything.' Or maybe it is. Who knows? Comes back to another point I made: it's a message board.
hibster wrote: & as i suspected you have not seen the hidden message.
So I didn't get your intended meaning. Aren't you very mysterious? What makes my interpretation less valid than yours?
Why are you getting so uppity about there being so many threads on here you don't like? Is it too much for you to post your own threads, instead of replying to threads that you hate, which puts the thread in top position on the board, and therfore more people have the chance to respond to it. Doesn't that defeat your original intention?
hibster wrote: well i'm obviously enthralled by owen's debate, but i will leave it for a bit to give him a chance to digest it whilst i prepare my tea
It's nice to see that you've taken the time to say that. Shows you do care about the argument.

let you know so you'd have time to add that missing close bracket in as well. maybe you shouldn't try doing so many quotes?
Christ. Everyone chill...........
Mind your own business and all that..........
Have fun Steve - think of of it this way; by not being there ......despite my many efforts ........I have done you a massive financial favour!!! It will give you both time to re-coup for the 'wake' - oh, sorry - birthday!!!!Tie & Tails only though!
you'll forgive me editing your posts down a bit chris but i wil try not to change any meanings, no matter how misguided, with omissions. you don't mind if i use the short form of your name do you? i feel i know you well enough to do that now we're sharing this discourse
co wrote: But essentialy, it's the same thing. He is looking to see if others who he doesn't really know are coming. It isn't just specifically aimed at Jem. Same with the Liverpool thread.
key difference chris in the liverpool thread people put information about where they are staying. he hasn't said where he is going so how are people going to meet him? unless - they know each other's phone numbers or emails -but if they did that surely this message would be better off sent using that medium? unless it's in another thread, in which case why not add it to that? unless it's too hard to find the one you want amongst the countless repetitious threads of course
which leads me on to....
co wrote: Why are you getting so uppity about there being so many threads on here you don't like? Is it too much for you to post your own threads, chris then goes on for a bit on similar theme
it's the repetition, c, as a casual user of the board these days (see if you can guess why), it's annoying that when you find a thread you like and try & see how it developed when you come back a day or two later it is drowned in a sea of sheds etc.
cowens wrote: And if we are all philosophers in our own way, then surely the 'shite' is reflective of our culture, if we are to follow your line of argument? Surely then it becomes meaningful?
it was a rhetorical question, not a statement. though i feel you haven't really grasped the concept i was aiming for.

think you'll find i quite agree with the point, hence my differentiating between that and e-mails for you. nice to see you grapsed my argument so well that time that you were able to mimic it.
christopher owens wrote: So I didn't get your intended meaning. Aren't you very mysterious? What makes my interpretation less valid than yours?
hidden. not double. you've not found it. very surprising given your propensity to quote everything i say.
& lastly - he doesn't mention Jem, do we have a board couple? sweet. good luck to the two of them.
Christopher Owens wrote: But surely it's better for an outsider to see this, as it looks like a genuine community, and not a pack of people with a fear of meeting people?
Er, Christopher, which part of a genuine community do you consider yourself to be then? I've always assumed you were basically anti-community from your comments and you enjoyed playing Devils Advocate. I know of only one person here who's met you. And that's Cambo. I've met maybe 100+ people here across three continents and some of the lads I know who've posted her I've known since you were in short pants. But do you see me give it the whole community bollocks? Course you don't. Cos I know there generally isn't one.
As for comparing Cambo meeting Missy Jem tonight to everyone else congregating on Liverpool, well, that comments beggars belief. That's perhaps the difference between folk who inhabit this forum, and those that go elsewhere as a port of call. One wonders how many of you are buying Liverpool tickets this morning? Very few, one should imagine. ![]()
