Ok, so you people got rid of a 3rd moderator since the beginning of the year, they all say the job of moderating this forum is impossible and that they get hate mail each time they try to do their job.

So I think it's time I step up and do something about it.

This website is mine, so I can do whatever I want about it.
If anybody isn't happy with the way it's moderated, you can always start your own forum elsewhere.

This is the off-topic of NewOrderOnline.com, which means it's opened to discussed about everything that is not New Order related, but many people don't bother to visit it anymore because of the crap that goes on in here and the fact that there is 20+ meaningful threads per day that are bumping the interesting topics out of the first page very often.

So to be honest, I think it's time to do a good cleanup, meaning that, for once, Digital Mike actually had the bright idea to lock all the crap threads, and it will continue this way... I mean, who needs 20 threads about Tesco? this only appeal to 3 or 4 people on this site anyways.

I'm opened to all suggestions (please do so by email, because there are a few persons on here that might take it personal) on how to make this forum more pleasant to visit, and it seems it will go on by naming new moderators that will do their job properly, meaning enforcing the community guidelines.

It's not normal that I don't read 90% of what's going on here because I find it's pointless and not enjoyable is it? after all, I'm the one hosting it.

Use it if you want to chat, don't use the forum for that... usually posting a one liner or a smiley isn't really a contribution to this forum eh?

I know, I do post a lot of crap myself, but now come on... you know there is a line somewhere when you post a topic, it should be something that would interest more than 3 persons.

I did lock and will continue to lock all the repetitive threads. Please remember though that these have been a source of fun for lots of people.

It has been suggested by some that there be one thread where people can post about the topics that used to occupy the repetitive threads.

As you will see I have set up the The Official BCD Silly thread for this purpose. Looking by the views and posts it has already prooved that some people want this type of thread.

So the curent position is the people who wanna post SILLY stuff can on ONE thread. The people who don't like the content of the repetitive threads know where those topics are now posted, so can avoid the thread.

It really is that simple.

I will continue, to lock and moderate silly threads, but as you can see this one thread is a source of amusement for lots of us.

I will continue to support NOOL vocally and with the odd donation and of course will continue to share cd and dvds with the massess.

I agree with that. Although due to the nature of those threads, I think a daily should do the job, otherwise it will get huge and nobody will read it to be honest.

What do you think?

I don't want to ban people, but I'm dead serious, I tried to find some interesting threads to bring up to cover those you locked, I had to go up to page 10 before finding a 10th thread... this shows how much crap there is on this website seriously.

But I think your idea is great, let's give it a try.

I agree with you Nicos, but is its difficult.

A Daily SILLY thread each day will see several weeks of SILLy threads on the first few pages. People will still complain.

How about a WEEKLY SILLY thread?

I will be most annoyed, if people complain about that, they do not have to visit it. As you can see the new SILLY thread has proved popular.

I welcome your suggestions.

Agree wholeheartedly with Mr Digital SHED... Last night on BCD there was lots of activity in the SILLY thread, and if you took away all the locked threads, which hopefully now won't end clog up the board, there was much less activity in terms of new threads, and some discussions about various bands, a bit of football, etc., hopefully with the usual current affairs stuff that goes on normally as well, this will give the right sort of mix and volme of relevant, serious threads... I have abandoned the Word Association thread, as it was getting a bit silly - I urge others to do the same as a gesture of goodwill to those who have been annoyed with the amount of crap posted recently on BCD.... Could we possibly archive the SILLY thread somewhere, so that each day someone (Mike?) starts a new thread, puts the previous days' one away so people can still view it,but doesn't take up space on the board? A weekly SILLY thread will stretch to hundreds of pages, by the looks of things, so will get a bit tricky to follow...

That has nothing to do with the fact that half the page as i look at it now is a bunch of locks.

Can we move those to the secret moderators forum so that the moderators can make fun of them? Or delete them all together. They are no good locked and they are friggin annoying and wont go off the page if there's less posting

Here's an idea:

If someone doesn't want a thread they start to be hijacked, they write something in the title that notifies everyone of this.

Something like - 'No highwaymen'.

I'd still rather see fewer threads, but this could be an extra measure that we could all adopt to keep things sweet.

I am, of course, very very drunk.
