Love Pink Floyd, but really only after Syd Barret left them. I'm not really a fan of stuff like See Emily Play or Arnold Layne. Bit too whimsical for my liking.
My favourite album is probably Wish You Were Here: all the songs on it are perfect, and fit into the album well without theere being any filler. After Gilmour took over, they became a bit hit and miss for my liking (Division Bell is a good album, A Momentary Lapse of Reason isn't really).
Any other fans out there?

i saw the dark side of the moon laser light show at the hayden planetarium in central park about 10 years ago. after enjoying some, erm, herbal remedies it made for quite a show.

Actually, I , as a massive Orb fan, often hear floyd compared to the Orb. I would say that the essential difference is that Floyd can take a warm, major key, happy piece of music, and make it terrify you, whereas the Orb can make the ugliest most dissonant music, probably made with the sound of live children in a blender, sound kinda amusing.
Take away the fucking light show, the flying pigs and all that bollocks, and you've got a few prententious twats shwoing off a bit and making deathly dull music.
Sometimes I hear the Floyd compared with JD/NO (album covers, aloof image, loss of key member, experimentations etc)

No....PF are clever buggers who play music to show off, NO are twats who play it cos they HAVE TO (well, before they became a pop puppet band on a major label anyway).
I can see no comparison at all, except maybe in the use of playback to compensate for a lack of ability to play their own tunes.
I've got The Dark Side of The Moon, i really like it but i do have to be in the mood. Love 'Time'.
In a Floyd mood lately, wearing my Wall shirt today that I got from NY. Listened to about three albums in the past few days - Dark Side, Wish You Were Here and Atom Heart Mother. :D

Dug out Obscured By Clouds today. It's often been derided as 'the album before Dark Side...' but it's a solid album, with well judged songs, and deserves to stand up with the great Floyd albums.
Over-rated shite if you ask me.
I have 4 of their DVD's, San Francisco 70, Venice 89, Pulse 94 & Live Anthology. They come in very handy for trading DVD's as there are loadsa PF fans about.
I have tried and tried to like them, but even in the days when I smoked my fair share of dope I still couldnae get into them.
I am one of those who likes the odd song from an album. Wish You Were Here, Comfortably Numb and a few others are class. But I could make my own best of the Floyd on a C45 ;)
the only post Sid track I go nuts for is On the Run...particularly the modern live versions, but it's purely for the geeky reason of hearing how well the Kurzweil they use ( same as Steve M's) can impersonate the VCS3.
My fave flotd songs are interstellar overdrive, see Emily drink...sorry wrong Emily....PLAY!, and without doubt Bike.

See, heres what i dont get.
In July, Roger Waters is playing Hyde Park, playing the whole of Dark Side Of The Moon. Erm... Why? Is this man, regarded by many as one of the most talented musicians ever, so creatively bankrupt that he has to resort to playing an album which is 30 odd years old to get the fans in. What a cunt. I mean even when I saw Mccartney he even played a couple of 'new' songs.
