Its just cheap shit TV. The bigwigs at stations all over the world are probably wondering why it took so long to think it up. Were stuck with it forever. Theyll still be doing Big Brother in 3001.
Whats next,Iraq Idol? or How To Be A Suicide Bomber in 10 Days?

there's a new show where they follow want to be priests around facing their last temptations.
Nope, not really. The Apprentice is one of the best things on TV in the UK at present. Certainly one of the most talked about.

really. i can't judge that we only get the us version here. i haven't watched that since series one.

Seen a couple and it was compelling i admit, but it is the exception rather than the rule. Mostly it's drivelling pish. Fookin "sick animal police island" or whatever.
And it does lead to that most irritating modern phenomenon, the celebrity famous for......, well being able to process food and respire oxygen/CO2 as far as I can tell.
not so much the reality tv shows themselves. some are good, like bad lads Army for example and Jamies School dinners.
but its what happens to these people afterwards.
Jade Goody becoming a celebrity for starters. Makosi from BB becoming a brass for Arabs in high class hotels. what the fuck is all that about. the tabloids are to blame. they should just not print anything at all about Goody. easy innit. then we'd all forget about the likes of her.
rich fat mong though. so good luck to Goody i suppose.
The worst was Celebrity Wrestling
WTF???
I have never liked reality TV, though it's still going strong. It really has a disservice for our communities. It has the "Jerry Springer" effect, in that people watch the shows so they can feel good about themselves. They see the "dirt" on other people and it makes themselves seem "ok". Then there is the whole bandwagon thing with loss of morality. . .Paris Hilton is a good example of that.
Reality TV is crap, but people are addicted to rumors and "dirt", so I don't think they're going anywhere anytime soon. Too bad.
One of the most idiotic is "Survivor", how about they make a real survivor tv series. Put people on the island and leave, only to come back 8 months later.
JHC
that's an awful idea.
You need to give them 20 mins with Ray Mears or sme other survival dude first. I mean they will ignore and fail to grasp the stuff....but it'll keep the insurance people happy.

But people would die for real then there. We're not up to such atrocities yet.
Depends which type of shows really.
I don't consider Survivor to be "reality tv"... it's a game show, it's not *live* like most reality tv shows are.
Al is right, the Apprentice is very interesting, I never followed it completly, but the few episodes I saw were quite enjoyable.
But there is a real bunch of crap of course... but I've been watching Survivor from season 1 and I'm still addicted to it... it must be boring if you don't follow it, because the fun of it is to see the evolution of the game.
Well, beside watching one that is a singing contest in french when it happens (once every 2 years), that's what I watch... I don't have any interest in things like swapping wives, etc. Oh, there is also one in french where 2 families build a house and people vote to pick who will win its house, it's pretty interesting to see what those people can actually do... but is that reality tv? not like you can follow them on a webcam!

not people....the sorts of lifeforms who want to go on reality TV shows to get their mugs famous. No loss to the species.
And to think 2000 years ago.. all reality tv you had was watching gladiators kill each others in a stadium... ![]()

Evolution (as in survival of the fitest), at it's best.

Gone are the days of good entertainment Spotnick.

TV as a whole... when I am home alone, TV is just a furniture lost in the living room...
well this room ceases to be a living one in my opinion... when I see my girlfriend, completly addicted to this thing, being like a vegetable in front of it, I wonder what means "living" with the word room...

LOL....the worst crime as yet committed by the west in the Middle East that is.
Much prefer taliban idol....cos you have to vote on the ladies singing talents, after all one big blue tent is much like another.

that's what Discovery is for...it's kinda like steamed, pureed science....goes down easy even for the not-so-bright so it is perfect veg viewing for the likes of me.
I draw the line at so called documentaries on Sky One tho....LOL...my 10 yrold nephew feels patronized by those.
I don't own a TV, but all of the times I caught something of reality TV, it just seems like a game show without a set and poor camera work. Sometimes, they can be amusing - like the Surreal Life - but most are revolting - like Fear Factor, the Bachelor, Average Joe, and whichever one had Monica Lewinski as a host (I believe it was called Mr. Personality.) But people get addicted to these shows. My roommate last year watched Fear Factor every night (I would make sure I wasn't eating dinner at the same time) and my mother and sister both watched Survivor, Average Joe Hawaii, and the first Apprentice religiously. In fact, a close friend of mine watches American Idol and had me watch it during Spring Break. I was hoping for a synthpop themed show - that way, I could hear at least New Order, DM, and PSB albeit watered down - but instead it was just an entire episode devoted to those making it in the final twelve.
Well, I can't possibly be sick of watching 'reality' tv, since I haven't seen anything that could be described as such since the first Real World on MTV. I am sick of hearing about everybody else talk about what happens on American Idol though.

You know, if they changed the judges, it might be a bit more interesting. Put Billy Corgan in place of Simon Cowell (if you haven't read an interview with Corgan, he makes Cowell look mild), put Neil Tennant in place of Paula Abdul, and Martin Gore in place of Randy Jackson. I'd watch that.
