What is it with New York then? Think most of us have now seen the Order's Hammerstein gig and the (almost total) lack of 'audience participation' at said venue.
Was just checking Kraftwerk's Technopop board to see if any more gigs had been announced and found a similar review of Kraftwerk's Hammerstein gig from last year.
What is it with Noo Yoikers then?! Are they really too cool to dance?!
Funny, but I always picture New Yorkers in chinos and pastel Ralph Lauren. Which ain't cool at all.

When i lived in New York, we'd go out to clubs where people were on pills, they would sit on the corner of the dance floor in a semi circle having a chat- the WHOLE night long!
It could be some stupid rules & regulations thing,to avoid a crush or some other kind of accident.

I've been known to do that.....but not ALL night, and I am a big fat sack of potatoes :D In my case tho, it's more to do with thinking most dance music's a pile of shite ;)

that said... there were a lot of "indie kids" at the show and indie kids don't dance. Those fuckers got pushed by those of us having a good time

I'm quite impressed: Al's quite an imposing figure (especially if you don't know him), and I wouldn't "give him an earful". Especially if he was moving around....

Never understood this relcutance of NY crowds to get into the music. The Taras Shevchenko video is the same, and they've commented on stage before about it - 83 and 86 on stage, and in an interview after the 81 dates.

Well, I was on the side where Andy & Rebecca were actually dancing.. and it was a good way to make sure my knee would hurt.
But moshing & other lethal dances?
I might experience that once, if I do the trip to England..
Although I admit that when I go see them, I want to see them play, not dance around (anyways, I don't dance unless drunk ) but if like Al I had seen 500+ shows maybe I would care more about the gig itself than the musicians ;)
Nothing as weird as the crowd in Tokyo for the Doves last November. There was no movement whatsoever and they literally WHISPERED between songs. Back home the crowd'd be launching pint pots full of piss at each other before the band even came on!
