Just taken me folks out for lunch cos it's me old man's birthday, and who is sitting in the pub with us but diminutive ex-Stoke and Everton star Adrian "Inchy" Heath!

Do any other NOOLers have tales to tell of recent encounters with long-retired but much-missed footballing heroes of the 1980s??

a mate saw Lou Macari outside a bookies when he was about 12 (my mate, not Macari). He asked for his autograph and Lou told him to fuck off.

The biggest footballing star I've spoken to is Luke Chadwick  He was in my local, I told him Chadwick was shit, forgetting that he was Chadwick...oops.

Had many a beer with Inchy and Denis Smith back in the day, when I was at Keele and Smithy was Sunderland manager, and had the team staying at Hawthorns Hall when they had Burslem on the Tuesday night, having been at the Wolves on the Saturday. They were all in the Sneyd, so naturally I went over and introduced myself, as you do after a few beers. Great blokes the pair of 'em!

Funnily enough, Lou Macari used to live at the same Hall for a while when he was Stoke gaffer!

Certainly did Darren. JC played for the Hibees from '86 until he signed for Celtic in 1990.
