Well acted Sean(Ian Curtis)Harris is chilling as Ian Brady as is Maxine(Shameless)Peake.But Joanne Froggatt (Ashley's ex squeeze in Corrie) as Myra's sister is excellent. Fortunately it spared us any violence to kids,only violence shown here is an axe attack on a businessman they pick up. Surprising that the kids' families agreed to the making of it,even the original photos were used,which must have been upsetting.

Yup... caught most of it. Obviously a touchy subject even forty years on, but well done, and well acted all round. Seems like the latest in a series of quality and very gritty dramas coming out of Manchester (often using the same actors), the first of which i can remember was 'Life on Mars'.

Not sure Myra Hindley was portrayed as evil enough, but there is another half tomorrow.

Sean Harris is gonna get a reputation though for playing tortured souls at this rate.

is this playing only in Britian? would like to see it if possible.

Was waiting for this drama for ages and was well worth it! Fantastic acting and i have to admit that the axe scene was really disturbing...Great piece of drama.

Looking forward to the second part today.

it was excellent.a very awful and dark subject but i thought they did it well.will be watching part 2 tonight for sure.

I thought last nights was really well acted. I'm glad they left out the kidnap/murders of the children, they seem to have gone to a lot of trouble not to upset the families, which is good.

I was watching Hannibal on the otherside(which was great) so missed the first half hour!

Turned it on half an hour in and remarked I would'nt have Sean Harris babysitting,which is a sign of good acting in my book!Evil looking man.I don't think he'll get many good guy roles in his career now!

Probably gunna miss part two,as I'm working nights.. Not that bothered as I know what happens and don't much care to see! If I were one of the family of the victims,I can't say I'd be happy about them making a drama about it.

I agree with everyhing you said here. my only complaint is that Sean Harris's (Brady) glasgow accent was terrible. i never understand how english actors always get scottish accents so badly wrong. Robert carlyle would have been good at this, but probably too expensive for ITV...

i believe the mother of keith bennett(winnie johnson) had a private screening a fortnight ago and she was very complementary of the documentary and how well they had put it together as she is all behind the people of manchester of never forgetting just what a horrible pair of BASTARDS they were as for myra not looking that horrible it is only because they are not focusing on the childrens murders and how the evil cow did all the bating of the kids for that sick bastard BRADY i think it is all about keeping it still fresh in peoples mind though i dont think manchester people will ever forget!

Yeah just been talking to the girlfriend about it.How they could let this be made.But the families have been quite vocal about this for years,agitated with the threats of releasing Myra Hindley for years,before she finally got the painful death she deserved. Ian Brady will never be given that luxury.But it does beggar belief that someone this high profile will never be granted parole,and yet lesser known Paedophiles/rapists/bastards can be allowed out against the interests of the safety of the public.

well tbh i cant see the point in this show at all,to this day the subject matter is still considered a bit of a taboo,and taking the deaths of inocent kids and turning it into entertainment no matter what the motives is borderline vile. no matter how well acted or gripping it may be nothing will be gained from this but the trivialisation of what was/is an horrendous crime. to think that there may be kids buried on the moors that we dont even know about and film crews are roaming around filming the show make me sick.

It's always very important to raise awareness, especially about something so discusting and horrible. I didn't found it 'entertaining' and don't think it was the purpose of making this drama in the first place. Very needed as we all need a little nudge to make us think, otherwise we go dumb. Well done to all the actors and the crew. Hopefully thanks to them (bringing the subject to our living rooms again) it will never happen again.
