Looking for some help and opinions. I've started to go walking a few days during the week and I'm looking for a music player to replace my CD player that I'm currently using to listen to music while I walk. What I'm looking for is something that has between 512 mb and 1 gig of memory, plays mp3 files, is somewhat small, light weight and can be used while either walking or jogging.

I have a little knowlege about the Ipod's with the Nano looking to be the the closest to what I'm looking to get. I'm just not a big fan of Apple's DRM and don't want to take a chance of it hijacking my mp3 collection. If I have to go the Ipod route, I will, just hoping that someone could point me in another direction.

Thanks,

Psy

Creative. I've got one and love it, even though it's an old model. Never heard a bad word about it.

Heard very good things about the iAudio which I might upgrade to.

A little advice (have to be brief at the minute), 1GB is nothing, I would just save up for a 20 or 30GB one.

I have an iPOD and whilst it's given me not reason for complaint, I suspect the battery may run out at some point soon and will cause me major grief... I have heard good things about Creative models, though - a couple of friends have had them for years now and they're still going strong, despite receiving a fair amount of abuse...

In the end I went for a cd mp3player, OK, yeah it still has moving parts, but at 2p per 650MB "card" you can't complain.

Thanks for the replys. I'll look into the creative brands this weekend and see if there is anything that I like. The reason I was only looking at a 1gig was to keep the cost down and I was not looking to put my whole collection on the player. I was just wanted to have something that would hold enough songs to get a good varity of music to listen to while I walked/jogged.

I'm currently using a cd mp3player, I just need something that is smaller in size so that it would be easier to carry around, especially when I have to mow the lawn.
