Might go and see them, and have listened to some of their tracks, and they're not bad.

Don't really feel like splashing out money to see a band that I'm not fond of.
That's why I'm listening to their stuff, and asking for opinions.

The band is called "Morrissey". It just happens to have evolved from Morrissey and some session musicians to a fully fledged band. Thats why Morrissey always says at every gig "this is our new single" or "we have a new album out" etc etc
Go and see them Chris... Not hugely keen on their recent stuff, but they used to be one of my favourite bands back in the day... Seen them live a lot, pretty good... All depends on what sort of stuff they play... Anything from George Best, Bizarro or Seamonsters would be fantastic...

I really like Don't Talk Just Kiss, Once More and Bad Thing. Heard some of the recent stuff and it's allright. Think I might go for it.

George Best was the first proper album and was released in 87, then Bizarro in 89 and Seamonsters in 91... If you like Once More, Chris, you'll like the early stuff - also check out Tommy which compiles early session tracks, etc - Once More is on that... The first two albums are in that vein... they got a bit more 'mainstream' indie after that... Still good though - they did some great cover versions as well!

I'd agree on those choices Tim, much preferring the Bizarro and Sea Monsters to George Best - good tunes but a bit lightweight by comparison. Saw them last year, they're still throwing in plenty of tracks from these albums plus a bit of cinerama. The overall sound lacks the Umph that characterised the Sea Monsters period especially but hell that was 15 years ago. Well worth a nosey.
Oh and Gedge is still selling the shirts and his on stage patter is pretty much the same as it always was.
If Gedge wasn't such a prick then maybe I'd have stuck with them a bit longer, but meeting him a couple of times was a major disappointment, never met a "pop star" so far up his own arse. Honestly thought he was above the rest of the world, whereas you couldn't get more humble and genuinely funny guys than Keith and Grapper.
Yes I'd forgotten the Ukrainian EP in that list, I still play a couple of those tracks when warming up for a guitar rehearsal!
well MES is hardly a saint & you like him enough...
the weddoes are great live, mix the set up nicely, some good banter, & the last album is up there with the best they've done
try finding interstate 5, or i'm from further north than you for examples
definitely go. saw them at barca last year - one of the highlights, & late last year bumped into the pompey order at a gig of theirs down that way
they were a great band Chris. not sure now.
i've only got the Bizzaro and George Best Albums, but great.
Kennedy, Brassneck and No are three classics from Bizzaro. Fuct if i can remember anymore.

Saw them play some good early shows with The Heart Throbs, The Parachute Men, The Primitives & bizzarely enough The Ukranians.
Personally my faves is the Reception Rec. era - i love that jingle-jangle buzzsaw guitars.
Been looking & listening to the recent gigs from Europe- they are chucking in a few 'proper' oldies but still not enough for my liking. However, saying that i may pop down the Univ. @ Leeds to join JT for a nosey.
