Well, you’ll notice the article is rather light on actual football talk. Very funny stuff about England’s search for a new coach though. :-) Will Rio Ferdinand’s afro slow him down?? Well, at least you don’t have to play Argentina or Germany in the first round. Don’t England’s group play Germany’s group in the 2nd round though? Could be very tough to play Germany, but very nice to get to play anyone else from that group in the 2nd round.

Will Melanie Slade, the 17-year-old girlfriend of the 17-year-old forward Theo Walcott, crumble under the pressure of having her figure and her fashion sense dissected daily by the tabloids?

Aye, first in ours plays second in theirs. But Germany should win their group and we SHOULD win ours. On paper...

English grass at that. All the turf in all the stadiums is being relayed with England's finest. So that apparently means that we're playing on home soil and apparently will win. Apparently.

Well, if Michael Ballack sprains his ankle on that English soil, imagine the scandal!

*cough* ahem....judging by the previous articles by the author, Sarah Lyall, in the Times (Kevin Spacey at the Old Vic, British police nabbing 8 terrorist suspects, a book festival in Wales, DIY dentistry by the British people themselves) odds are very, very good that she isn't some American. Just sayin'.....

Erm, just that the "American" who wrote the "soccer" story that Sheddo referred to, is most likely a citizen of the UK, going by the stories she's filed for the New York Times previously.
