No place for any of this cancer in schools. Kids spend all day learning about science for some fairy worshipping cunt to tell them it's all lies.

Why have faith in schools.....it's not like you go to church to think.

When I did RS GCSE at school it was all about learning about different religions and their beliefs and ethical issues, like abortion, euthanasia, etc... Actually pretty interesting and useful... I think nowadays it tends to emcompass a lot of the crap that they can't get into other subjects - it's basically an extension of this Citizenship/Personal Development bollocks that noone wants to teach and kids don't want to learn and don't respect because they keep changing how and what's taught, and the kids see from the fact that they get any muppet with a bit of free time on their timetable to teach it that it's a joke... I volunteered to teach Spanish next year, which I don't even speak yet, just so I wouldn't end up with any of the Citizenship rubbish...

when i taught world religions i taught about the history of the world's major religions, their belief systems, etc. nothing particularly 'religious' about it. my students first thought i was a hindu, then a buddhist, then jewish, etc., depending on what i was teaching at the time. i thought that was quite a compliment--it meant i was being objective (not to mention it messed with their heads when i refused to divulge my real religious beliefs!).

is the GCSE in RE 'faith-based' or more of a history class? i'm guessing it's more of the former.
