actually.... No JJ "the seduction of claude debussy" was dudley, Trevor Horn, Lol Creme, Paul Morley, and some randoms. Check out the live dvd from a couple of years ago ...i have it somewhere but fuck knows where, think it's called "into vision".

Worth it for Morley rapping :D

And Anne Dudley is just breathtaking in every way imaginable as usual.

The newer music is blissfully stunning, but the old live video, of the 86 Hammy Ode gig is just art of noise perfection.......the fairlight/drum solo wih the voices is brainbuckling. Anne's hair tho.... :lol:

PS yer a bastard...i HAVE to listen to it now. :D

EDIT: wuold LOVe to hear Dudley arrange a NO track, would be breathtaking, they have very compatible ideas about tonality, I mean think of some of the string middle 8's on NO tracks.

Could be a plan. The digital copy I have of the 86 gig is a bit icky in places.....but not too bad.

Also have the newer one with all the debussy stuff as an aci somewhere too. Must find them.

I'll try, I need to find the video first...then cut it, work out how to upload to youtube etc. But yes, it MUSt be seen.

It's not so much the rapping, as the Pob-like arm motions. He also does a good line in ranting manically.

No, not really. Morley talking/rapping about Bart Simpson and walking around with a big hammer almost ruins this performance. Understandably they couldn't drag John Hurt to Coachella to do the Debussy dialogues.

I'd completely forgotten she'd worked with electronic.

Flamin, she's unlikely to have played as such, more done the orchestration. Tho she's a bloody good pianist and a dab hand on cello as far as I can recall.

The Question is....where the hell is JJ Jeczalik. Last I heard (bout 8 years ago) he was touring as "art of silence" using a huge computers system designed for radio stations, but all loaded up with loops and stuff.

OK, I found the 86 video. Couple of odd issue in the audio, it drops audio frames occasionally , makes the band seem loose sometimes. Not too bad tho. Don't seem to have the more modern one available as a digital copy, will set about ripping the dvd in the very near future.

The best bit about morley's rantrapping is when he stops and leaves the soundscape open for Anne duddley chanting into a vocoder. :love:

OK, i just scan watched Into Vision for a suitable segment to clip and "tube". Can't do it. Dunno what to pick, kept saying "ooooh, this looks like a good bit" and then realising it was 10 mins later and I'd not spotted the out point yet.

Morley's rapping and wiggley arms and quoting french poetry and telling daft Morley standard stories between tunes is all just funny....but there's some killer music on there too...Opera chick looks like she's getting off on singing through the ffects on Peter Gunn, Anne's vocoder usage, and Trevor Horn SINGING! (and not video killed the radio star either).

So I dunno, I guess I can either rip it for anyone who wants it or you can buy it, play.com have it for £7.99

You wont be dissappointed, except by beatbox, if you love old noise, I advise you get moist eyed over Anne playing the intro, and lumpy throated over hearing the original tape segment from which "Hey" was taken...then skip to the next track, cos it's a DJ play-in basically. Moments in Love is mad, it cuts between two gigs where they played it totally different ways. There's also a little snippet of "mondo video" work near the start for those who know of godley and Creme's video work.

And I will be converting and sendin out that hammy odeon video tomorrow or saturday......wait ti you see Opus4 done on fairlight connected drums, unbelievable.
