Is it so strange to visit the city that your musical heros hail from? I think not.
That's the reason I went there a year ago. Anyway, when I was there I stayed at Manchester Hatters (http://www.hattersgroup.com/hatters/index.html) and was very pleased with it, pleasant accomodation and very near the city centre. It's pretty cheap, around the equivalent of $25 a night (or so it was last year).
Yes, but in all honesty, unless your "musical heroes" are playing a gig theres not much point. I mean, are you going to spend a shitload of money to go and see the flats where the Hacienda used to be? Just search on t'internet and finding a picture wont be too hard.
Personally, I wouldnt bother in August, theres jack shit on in town because everyone is doing the festivals. Wait until the gig scene picks up again in October/November. The only thing happening in Manc this August is my Birthday. Which i'll be celebrating at V Fest anyway.
