Some of the audio posts will go. It's too much of an inside joke for me. The blog will be a chronicle of my college life now. And it will have more text.

Blogs are for the sorts of people who have a diary, labelled $PERSON'S private diary, death to all readers, then constantly leave it lying around on their coffee table for everyone to read. (and Liam)

so i've been told. ![]()
Blogs aren't very good because nobody ever reads them.
Just find a popular message board and post everything that comes into your head on there.
No one will mind.

Also best to find a message board the subject of which you have no knowledge of or interest in... ![]()

Gotta agree with that: it's narcissism, pure and simple.

Indeed. If it's a fucking diary why should it be exposed?
What's the puprose of a diary anyway? Lack of memory, a tool for analysis or merely inability not to write? ![]()

narcissism is a strong word, because that's a mental disorder. But it is "look at me plz".
Though there are sites like livejournal, deadjournal, and others where it's more like a message board and you're keeping in touch with people rather than screaming out to an audience.
:P
Really, though, that's why I think I don't update my blog (the one at chrissmari.org) because I don't think I've got anything more special to say than anyone else. But I update my livejournal all the time because it's like talking to internet friends

I enjoy hearing myself think ![]()
Plus, it beats leaving it all in until one day when I finally explode and mercilessly...try to punch people, only to see them laugh at my lack of muscle coordination and then putting me in my proper place ![]()
Because I'm a wuss :p
why keep your own Dairy?
sounds like a right load of hassle.
I can get eggs & milk from my local 24hr garage.

Cozzie, what people here are trying to say is that they think blogs are all a bit self-obsessional and, well, boring.
And they can't be arsed, because they have more important-- and interesting-- things to do. Like post endless pics of themselves ("here's another pic of me standing around") and the interesting things in their neighborhoods ("Here's a stoplight in my neighborhood"). And let's not forget all those really, really interesting pics of SHEDS.
THOSE are really, truly, genuinely interesting posts.
And if you're going to do a blog, Cozzie, you should really follow some of the exciting examples of personal obesrvation to be found on NOOL. For example, there's the classic "Hi all, I just woke up." That one is SO profound an observation. I have to go back and read it several times a day, just to let it all sink in. And then there's it's analogue, "Goodnight all, I'm going to bed." Fucking brilliant, what more can I say. And in between those two profound reflections, there's the moving "I'm going to take a poo now." And who could ever forget the endlessly fascinating accounts of personal drinking habits, from "I'm going to get drunk tonight" to "I'm hungover today." All of life's triumphs and failures, to be found right here on NOOL.
So Cozzie, if you're going to revamp your blog-- or even your NOOL posts-- do take advantage of your opportunities, and learn from the masters. ![]()

Yeah, what's up with that? What a rip...hey, wait a minute. Do I detect a note of sarcasm running through this thread??

I do my blogs for fun, mostly, and don't give a rip if anyone reads them. ![]()
Plus, if I ever write "the novel", it might be nice to recall how wrong I was about Kerry's chances of winning in '04 :p

I'm with you on that. I'd better read a short sentence here than another endless lecture.![]()
Man, I really regret eating that footlong meatball sub right now...:barf:
Now that's interesting blogging! ![]()
OK, here's my take on blogs.
A classmate of mine writes her entries in a couple of sentences. Some of my friends write a paragraph or two. Tabbsy's blogs are full of quirks that are bit underground. Chriss' are a bunch of one sentence responses that always get me lost because they're either football or a bunch of inside jokes. Not to mention, there are several one sentence posts daily.
Me, I just want to put my life out there in an insightful way, the way other people can understand.
The insights on this thread are greatly appreciated.
Aside from the audio posts that I have deleted, I don't think the blog is boring. It will still have some NOOL stuff, but it is more focused on my college life. So hang in there for another three years. ![]()
