WIFM instrumental

Is there a version of WIFM without the Engerland team on it, or preferably one with no vicals at all?

It's a stunningly good track , but I feel like a bit of a fucktard (shut up at the back!!) blaring "ENGERLAND" out my decided non-Engerland-located window. Not that i have a prob with it beyond feelin like a dweeb, as I saw mentioned here yesterday, it IS without question the finest footie song ever.

I was almost certain the B side of the single was an instrumental (but not a perfect one...hooky missing too or something? memory is vague)....but a search of a couple of filestealing programs came up with just the subbuteo mix and original 7".

Oh, and on this subject...does anyone have a half decent recording of the original Gilbert/Morris version flogged to the BBC as the theme to Reportage?

the "b-side" is also good. I Like the sound and feel of that version.Different lyrics by some of the players (but who?) .Kind of a more chilled out sound to it.Wasn't it originally intended as the a side??

Ron, i think Cambo basically wants the main version but without any lyrics ,not stuff like the Subbuteo mix.Aye i remember parts of the tune originally being used on that Reportage programme 6 months previously but don't have it here.

The No Alla Violenza Mix is not an instrumental of the original New Order version so I dunno how it fits the bill!

Well spotted...I want to be able to hear the nice music without the horrid racket of vocals. I reckon Ron just thought I found the word Engerland offensive.

Other Two you reckon? Gillian's become really adept at 6 string bass on it :D It's mainly why the vocals bug me, can't hear all the clever little licks Hooky plays.

Has anyone got the original "Reportage" version that The Other Two did?

The B-side of the original 1990 release (green/blue sleeve) features Keith Allen rapping instead of John Barnes does it not? But it does lack the "playing/singing for England...ENG ER LAND!!" bit which at least means you can use it as a NON footy anthem as well.

I only cottoned on, a few months ago, to the fact that's it's Keith Allen paraphrasing the 1966 "some people are on the pitch...." thing.

As I just said in the post above, all those voices are Keith Allen being goofy ! There AREN'T any other guest footballers on that side.
