How annoying — Forum Archive

Some bird in my office, insists on sending about 20 mails a week of the sort "If you don't reply to this mail or send it back you will have:

... a rubbish love life ... bad luck for years ... a horrible death

I always delete them but the annoying thing is some of the other women accidentally 'Reply to All', so i end up getting the bloody thing about 50 times.

Why don't people just delete these, surely they can't be so stupid as to think these things come true. Oh and those retch inducing "True friends" with pictures of cute kittens, oh, pass me the bucket.

I have taken to sending a quick reply to emails that I don't like: Please don't send emails like this to my work account. Our emails are monitored and I may get into trouble for excessive non-work related traffic.

I word it a little more strongly if there's mucky attachments (soo nineties!) and include my home email address to re-send quality muck.

And if, like last week, anyone sends racist jokes, I reply with a direct threat of violence and follow the email up with a personal desk visit to re-iterate my threat by requesting that all future racist jokes be delivered verbally and out of work time.

I have to say that the amount of irritating emails has gone down significantly.

Ooh, get me - a sensible reply!

i hate chain mail and don't reply to it. somtimes when it is a good one i forward it on, but delete the you must send this to 20 people line.

You wanna know what I find annoying....

I make an effort to actually greet all the team members at work, and engage them in a little idle chit-chat...makes it seem as if I care about them...but what I really can't stand is when one of them decides to tell me about their daughter's yeast infection. And then there are the ones that are seriously insane...I used to have one that told me that she couldn't be late to work, because the satellites told her she was right on time, even if the time clock showed her to have punched in 20 minutes after her scheduled start time...

I was going to reply to the original topic of the thread (i.e., annoying emails "chain letters" and whatnot). But I fear the strong Danny Zucco-esque nature this thread is taking, and am hopelessly devoted to not acknowledging such material. :nonono:

Also, I'm a beauty-school dropout, it brings back horrible memories of Frankie Valli harassing me to go back to high school :D

I get them on my mobile too sometimes.... Only from girls though. :rolleyes: I just don't reply unless it's funny in which case i take off the 'pass this on to...bla...bla bollox' and just send the joke.
