CG animated films.

I went to see Over the Hedge the other day and although it was ok, mind you if the Shat hadn't of been one of the voices i wouldn't of wasted my time.

it left me thinking after all the trailers for upcoming CG cartoons, its all getting abit too much for me, where are the classic animated cartoons gone?

It's really beginning to bug me.

Or Maybe i should grow up and stop watching cartoons?

Think the cgi has got better over the past 10 years,but for laughs and ideas,its never bettered the first one-Toy Story.

CG still looks kind of fake and wrong to me no matter what kind of film.

I think it's beginning to be a bit much. They are animating everything now. When I saw the commercial for Cars, I was reminded of a Simpsons episode from a year or two ago where they were spoofing Disney/Pixar by showing an ad for a CG movie...I think it was either Letter, or Envelopes...something stupid like that that has no business being animated. The point being, they are making a buck by animating freakin' everything and making it look cute. Mind you, I'm sure Cars is better than Letters, but you get the Idea. The last CG movie I was was Chicken Little. I am NOT proud of that, but there you have it. Toy Story was really good. Finding Nemo and Shrek were good too, though, I think

Oh yeah, I thought Monster Inc was good too. I do think Toy Story was probably the funniest one of the lot, though.

They all look the same to me. Toy Story was a huge leap ahead, but nothing seems to really top that. They're all over the place now, and seem more aimed at "family" audiences (with subtle humor for adults) than kids. Hand-drawn animation is just too costly and time consuming for American studios to invest in, compared to the CGI ones that seem to come out with as much regularity as my bowel movements. At least the Japanese still do some decent animation that isn't too far into otaku anime territory for my taste...stuff like Miyazaki and the fella who did Akira and Steamboy.

Man, I still miss the Starblazers!

Is anyone else also getting a bit tired of the same type of humor in them? Disney used to be classics, now it's just to make money for the moment. Aladin started putting today's humor into a place it could never be (like the Genie driving a car or something). Now everything does it.

And by the way Shrek is terrible for this.
