Just went to see this, and I loved it... I recommand it, but only to people who enjoyed all of M. Night Shatamalan's(sp?) previous movies (The 6th Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, The Village)...

As usual, when he's doing a movie, I have to go so it, and I wasn't disappointed.. it's a pretty straightforward movie, but beautifully done.

Enjoy! :thumb:

So Paul Giamatti didn't turn out to be dead, or the apartment complex actually in the 1850s? :D

I'd say it's more like "Signs" than the other two.

Like Signs? Maybe I'll catch it on DVD then.

I have to say, the leads were great, but that is all I can recommend.

I felt it to be too self-indulgant, Shamalyan needs to stop having major roles in his movies and stick to cameos. I overall felt the story was weak and there was no big payoff or twist. Just my opinion anyhow, but I'm a yank, what do I know, right? :cowboy: :stupid:

i know the village really dissapointed me, the only one of his films i liked was the 6th sense, unbreakable was Okay but not great. the reviewers are ripping the lady in the water and calling for M. Night to be publicly shot!

I agree with Smarradona about 6th Sense and Unbreakable, and Sheds on a Plane's comments make LITW sound too much like Signs.

Lady in the Water has nothing on Signs, a much better flick IMHO. Glimpses of aliens = ace, bad CGI "wolves" =

Signs was OK, but just bit of a letdown, IMHO. I expected something more at the end. It was really just another alien invasion movie.

Didn't look like something I want to see.

I saw "Lady in the Water" and didn't like it. I always have hope for M. Knight Shamwhodalou's films but since "Signs" I've been dissappointed.

The WTC trailer made it look like an emotional flick about the policemen who were stuck in the rubble. It doesn't look like the typical controversial Oliver Stone film.

Yeah, it's got Nick Cage. I think he's a police officer. Personally, I'm much more looking forward to his Ghost Rider movie! :thumb:

See the movie and you'll see why movie critics hate it

Trust me.

Movie critic here gave it 4 stars... so go figure...

Well, I didn't watch the 6th sense twice and didn't know what he looked like before, so I don't remember him in that movie.

In Unbreakable he's doing a cameo of somebody that Bruce Willis is trying to find drugs on him at the stadium... in Signs he has a very minor role but reveal the water hint... did he have such a big role in The Village? I thought he was one of the park ranger only..

Now he does have an important role, but then again, it's his movies, he can do what he wants.

But I learned something... people either hate or love his movies.. there is no "In between"... personally I can't say I love them, but I enjoy them... and they don't bore me, so I guess I like them ;) But I'm not trying to figure the end while in the movie, which might have ruined it for 6th sense or The Village for some people.

M. Night played a pediatrician in Sixth Sense (he suspected Cole's mom abused him, when it was the silly ghosts), you were right about Unbreakable, Signs was a small but crucial role, and I only think you see his reflection in The Village. I do not mind him in such roles, but he is not an actor on par with the leads, so he should stick to being behind the 24 frame playback.

It's funny you say people either love his movies or hate them....

Sixth Sense - Loved it (4 stars) Unbreakable - Meh  (2 1/2 stars) Signs - Loved it, but cannot match Sixth Sense (3 1/2 stars) Village - Meh  (2 1/2 stars) LITW - HATED IT  (1/2 star at most)

I can understand why film critics don't like this movie, but I think the general public in most cases agrees this movie is shite, and hopefully it will force Shamalyan to not do such "vanity" pictures and stick to mindfucking us!

i enjoyed sixth sense, but this guy has turned me off as he thinks that he is god's gift to filmmaking. Too self-indulgent. Also, I can't stand all the whispering.

Have to agree with you as I'm on the fence with him as well.

Sixth sense - Loved it as well Unbreakable - I liked the premise, opposites brought into this world at the same time and against, complimenting each other at the same time. I think this movie could have been better though. Signs - Was OK. Wasn't that impressed by it. Village - Again good premise, but 3/4ths of the movie just was too long and slow moving to keep my interest.

By the sounds of it, I won't be rushing out to the movie theaters for this one.

got logged off somehow....i didn't like the previews to this movie. the only way i'd go and see it, is if the girl's head catches on fire and she ends up running into a wall and the guy chasing her stops, drops, and rolls her,....down the stairs and tickles the shit out of her while she is in pain.

to put it this way, i have never liked z.shamamaylan's movies. bite me.
